Job Description
Position Overview
The Financial Analyst is responsible for providing financial and business support as part of Finance team that supports various Corporate departments. Responsibilities will include operating expense analysis, forecasting, reporting and budgeting, process analysis and implementation, and adhoc reporting.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Analyze and review financial data in GL, including invoices against budgets/ forecast to ensure validity, accuracy and completeness
- Analyze operating results against department budgets, prepare monthly forecasts and manage results to meet budget targets
- Active support role during month-end close process which includes: journal preparation, accruals, collecting support documentation, balance sheet schedules, and variance analysis and reporting for executive review
- Update and monitor monthly operational re-forecasts and communicate to Corporate Planning & Analysis.
- Assist departmental leads in identifying risks, efficiencies and/or opportunities through analysis. Alert management (Manager) to potential areas of exposure and recommend solutions to ensure on-budget performance.
- Assist Manager in gathering information from business leads, and in providing reporting and information as needed in order to facilitate informed financial decision making by business (includes monthly distribution of financial reporting)
- Provide support in the preparation of the annual Operating Budgets for the areas supported.
- Analyze existing processes and provide support as new processes are coordinated and put in place within and across divisions
- Assist in the preparation of presentation material on a periodic and ad hoc basis.
- Provide support as needed for Capital budgets, forecast, reporting, and preparation of capital project business cases.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and/or Accounting; MBA preferred
- Several years of finance/accounting experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint
- Highest degree of accuracy with strong attention to detail
- Strong communication, analytical, critical-thinking and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and is resourceful, creative and time sensitive juggling multiple projects for challenging deadlines
- Knowledge and experience with General Accepted Accounting Principles
- Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with SAP and Hyperion Essbase is a plus
