Job Description
Overview: the Financial Analyst independently performs a variety of financial tasks in the areas of budgets, finance and reporting. General activities include account reconciliations, analyzing and reporting on financial data, preparing federal applications and developing ad hoc reports to support the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis. Positive interaction and communication with other team members is essential to this position.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for preparation and filing the Medicare Cost Report including;
- Cost reports and other financial reports pertaining to updates in square footage statistic. Develop and implement a tracking system for interns and residents for inclusion in the cost report.
- Preparation and submission of target rate exception requests as needed.
- Participate in the submission of CHGME program applications including;
- Ensuring that all are completed and submitted in a timely manner in coordination with Training office to ensure all reports
- Develop templates and downloads for various financial managers for the Institute’s Annual Budget Process.
- Develop funding and departmental expense budget templates in coordination with Information Systems.
- Train financial managers on template usage.
- Facilitates the preparation and submission of Federal 990’s (not for profit tax returns) ensuring compliance with Accounting Firm requirements. Coordinate with Accounting Firm to resolve all outstanding issues.
- Analyze support services billing (Hopkins Services) through reconciliation of bills received and paid. Ensures all additional inpatient charges are billed if appropriate. Prepares monthly accruals to ensure KKI is adequately accrued. Reconciles accruals on a quarterly basis.
- Works with staff to ensure proper reporting and month-end reconciliation of days and revenue.
- Coordinate with departments to assure interdepartmental revenue and expenses are recorded accurately.
- Responsible for quarterly filings to federal agencies.
- Perform analytical duties as needed.
- Review monthly performance and complete ad hoc reporting as needed.
EDUCATION:
- BA/BS degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) years’ related experience in a role leading efforts responsible for analyzing processes and implementing systems solutions that address key business objectives.
- Three (3) years of experience in developing Crystal Reports and working with Business Objects preferred.
