Join UChicago Medicine as Finance Systems (BI) Business Intelligence Lead Analyst in Budget Operations Department.

JOB SUMMARY


Under general direction, is accountable for directing, developing, and leveraging the use of Business Intelligence Platforms across Organization/System-wide reporting.Has full technical knowledge of all phases of programming and report development. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams across the organization and is a steward of report development and maintenance best practices within the finance area. Has a full technical knowledge of the data sources and systems across the UCM network.


The Business Intelligence (BI) Lead Analyst is responsible for building business intelligence applications and data visualization tools, creating innovative analysis and interpretation, employing sophisticated data modeling techniques.The BI Lead Analyst will meet with internal customers and gather requirements and design solutions to meet the needs.The BI Lead Analyst will collaborate with data architects, database administrators and the data and analytics team to design and develop datamarts within the UCM data warehouse. The BI Lead Analyst will work with IT to identify data sources from transactional systems to migrate to the data warehouse. The BI Lead Analyst translates data into actionable information that assists leadership with decision making for operational and strategic areas. Works with leadership throughout the hospital to analyze operational and strategic performance to identify gaps, establish targets and devise the most efficient and effective methods for measuring and displaying performance, including training for business intelligence and analytic tools.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Instructs, directs, and checks the work of other report developers
  • Expert in Enterprise BI technology. A resource for other report developers to learn best practices. Offers constructive feedback in a professional manner. Provides training sessions necessary to raise the analytic literacy of the organization
  • Develops reporting policies, standards, and best practices
  • Creates, maintains, and updates policies, standards, and best practices based on the current enterprise environment. Liaison in the roll-out of these all end-users. Identifies gaps in current systems to create guardrails as necessary.
  • System-Wide report life-cycle review and maintenance
  • Maintain an appropriate portfolio of work. Updating reports and queries to match the most appropriate specifications and versions of technology available.Owner in the process development for reviewing old, current, and new reports shared at the system level.
  • Data Quality Management
  • Develop and own the rules necessary in order to diagnose the health and stability of system-wide reports and measures, complementary to enterprise-level rulesets and activities.
  • Ad-hoc analysis and Other Duties as Assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, in IT, Computer Science, finance, business decision support/statistical analysis, healthcare administration or a clinically associated health care field with strong statistical analysis.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience leading BI project development.
  • Minimum 6 years directly applicable experience in data systems, analysis, programming, and technical design preferably in a healthcare setting, programming in one or more language (SQL minimum, others applicable)
  • Advanced Tableau skills.
  • Advanced skill in the most current BI tools.
  • Demonstrated advanced technical skill and knowledge of data systems and query languages.
  • Requires technical creativity and strong understanding of information technology in health care.
  • Knowledge and application of the principles of quality improvement including methodologies, data collection and analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong training and mentorship skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify areas for improvement, capable of making recommendations and implementing solution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead group discussions.
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-direct, multi-task and partner with technical staff from different departments.
  • Strong organizational and consensus building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability for public speaking.
