Field Service Technician

Barbizon Lighting Company's New York office has an immediate full time opening for a field service technician to provide technical support and service to Barbizon customers and employees. Duties to include the following:

• Troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, testing, and upgrade of production lighting equipment
• Troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, testing, and upgrade/retrofit of dimming and control systems
• Technical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of in-house technical systems
• Technical phone/counter support for products sold
• Electronic/electric/mechanical bench support
• Field service and commissioning of dimming and control systems
• Bench repairs as needed
• Customer phone support
• Generate, maintain and organize related files
• Office IT support
• Other duties as assigned

Qualified candidates will have:

• Ability to troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and mechanical components and lighting/control systems
• Thorough understanding of lighting and control systems
• Intermediate or better electrical skills practices
• Ability to follow direction
• Understanding of DMX and networking protocols
• Strong personal motivation and self-starting skills
• Strong communication & organizational skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Strong computer skills. Theatrical dimming manufacturer field technician certification a plus
• Demonstrated understanding of systems and related problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of computer and network troubleshooting and repair
• Bachelor of Science, BFA or MFA in Technical Theater, Engineering or related discipline or equivalent technical school, military training, or experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
