Founded over 130 years ago as a well drilling contractor, Layne is one of the largest, most experienced water service companies, serving hundreds of municipalities, industrial companies, agribusinesses, mining companies and the world. We supply well drilling and construction for dewatering wells, monitor well completions, environmental and geotechnical drilling, water well rehabilitation, pumping equipment sales and services, mineral exploration drilling, hydrologic investigations and water treatment technologies.

General Summary
This position of Field Service Technician is integral to the overall Water Resources maintenance strategy. The purpose of the position is to carry the maintenance program into the field and to provide a prompt response to equipment failures and breakdowns.
Essential Job Accountabilities
- Testing and repairing equipment by travelling to the location of the customer
- Providing troubleshooting as well performing installation of equipment
- Attending to the needs of the customer whenever required
- Performing the confirmation that the equipment is functional
- Provide telephone support to the customer in order to perform troubleshooting
- Providing onsite services for individual as well as organizations
- Ensuring that the equipment on which they have performed troubleshooting are in proper working condition
Education
- High School Diploma or GED.
Work Experience
- 1-3 years of experience with pumps and/or water systems
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Must have a valid driver’s license. Commercial driver and any endorsements are a plus.
- Must have the ability to work independently or with less supervision
- Possess excellent troubleshooting skills
- Must have good customer service skills
- Ability to maintain good relations with customers
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Must have the ability to work under pressure
- Ability to manage service calls
- Strong communication skills and team-oriented mentality for collaborating with Project Management and Sales teams.
- Must keep good field notes and provide necessary paperwork and documentation in a timely fashion
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a small hand tools. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Working outside in all weather conditions required.
