Field Service Specialist

Metriguard designs and manufactures electronic and mechanical equipment for testing and grading wood products including dimension lumber and veneer for structural laminated wood products. This equipment is used worldwide by sawmills, wood products companies and research facilities. Metriguard innovations have enhanced traditional forest products testing equipment, and new equipment introduced by our company has become the industry standard. Metriguard employs 27 people at our modern office and manufacturing facility in Pullman, WA. Metriguard, incorporated in 1973, is part of the global Raute Group since 2017.

In the position you install and service Metriguard systems at customers’ plant locations around the world. You are an important support for the customer by training the staff and providing technical support. You also work in close contact with our other operations such as sales and engineering in order to develop our products and services.

We expect you to have strong customer service and problem-solving skills. A two-year or greater degree in Engineering or Electronic Technology or equivalent is preferred. Hands-on experience in computer, mechanical or electrical/electronic trouble-shooting, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are considered as an advantage. A successful applicant must be willing to locate in Pullman, WA area.

The position includes 24-hour on-call approximately every month, rotated among sales and service personnel on a weekly basis. This position also requires willingness to travel both domestically and internationally to various customer locations. Trip length varies from 2 days to 6 weeks, with most in the 1 to 2 weeks range.
