What We Do
- ID Plans combines human talent and online technology to create interactive site plans for property managers. Our field teams collect and report data on the interior and exterior of commercial properties. We verify and map every wall measurement, ceiling tile placement, restroom detail, and fire safety equipment information. We locate every water meter, electric meter, parking lot space, landscape details, dumpster size, access points, and much more.
With that information, property owners can manage their sites remotely, having instant access to every detail of their property, wherever they are.
The reason this position was created
The Field Data Specialist is our “boots on the ground” information gatherer. This role is at the core of our unique suite of property solutions. Field Data Specialists travel the country, collecting and reporting detailed property information around shopping malls or other properties.
The most important ways to spend your time in this role
Communication, Accuracy, and Speed are the keys to success for Field Data Specialists.
Although most work is independent, you must also work alongside the corporate office, quality control teams, and other field teams to ensure accurate results are delivered as quickly as possible. Here are some of the most important ways to spend your time:
- Traveling to and from assigned sites (and working while traveling).
- Using hands-on mechanical skills and practical tools such as a iPad tablet, 360 camera, measuring wheel, laser measure, and other hand tools to record property details.
- Tech skills, like drawing with an iPad using proprietary software, and taking spherical photos while spatially thinking and navigating your way around each property.
- Finding, measuring, and mapping every detail of assigned properties.
Important duties and tasks for this position
A “day in the life” will consist mainly of the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Accurately gather and match water, gas and electric meter data to every store address.
- Map, number, and record details of all lighting types across each property.
- Accurately redraw stores to scale by space and size using our software.
- Map property landscape (noting square footage, tree lines, shrubbery, pathways, and more).
- Count and map parking spaces and speed bumps.
- Record onsite safety and fire equipment information.
- Note details of all signage on property.
- Record dumpster information (size, location, vendor, etc.).
- Gather, map, and recreate important data such as wall lengths.
- Record placement and number of ceiling tiles.
- Measure and map restroom spaces.
- Access commercial rooftops and gather HVAC data points.
- Place window locations, closets, doors, outlets, vents, and more.
- Regularly communicate with team and report on progress.
- Respond to inquiries from Quality Control or other team members.
- Train, coach, help, and communicate with fellow team members.
The traits and characteristics needed to be successful in this position
- Willing and able to travel extensively, away from home up to 2 weeks at a time with 2-4 days between trips (not all trips are long but you should be prepared to assume they might be).
- Have a reliable vehicle that can drive long distances as needed. Vehicle must be able to carry a 17 foot extension ladder.
- Excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills. You understand the difference between “Let’s eat, Grandma!” and “Let’s eat Grandma!”.
- Strong iPad and computer skills. You know how to connect to WiFi and Bluetooth, and have better than average knowledge using tablets and smartphones. You can download and update apps without help. You are familiar with using a stylus, navigation, and SMS.
- Photoshop or other photo editing or graphic design experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Strong spatial thinking. You can rotate a 3-D box in your mind and know which side is facing you. More practically, you can stand behind a shopping mall and know where you are in relation to the storefronts.
- You maintain a professional appearance, even after sweating all day.
- Able to walk and stand for extended periods in all kinds of weather and conditions.
- Not squeamish about bugs or other critters found on or near commercial properties.
- Experience with commercial irrigation or electrical work is helpful. For example, low-level electrical.
- Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Experience with landscaping or general property maintenance.
- Experience with mapping, floorplans, or blueprints.

Pay: $43,000.00 per year
