Facilities Technician

Are you the go-to person for fixing equipment in your building? Do you drive to holiday light displays to marvel at the wiring and calculate wattage loads rather than looking at the lights? Do you look at damaged drywall and instinctively calculate how many person hours and patching material you will need for a proper repair?

If this sounds like you, we want to talk to you about our Facilities Tech opening. The role is part of a small crew that maintains, troubleshoots and repairs equipment; handles basic facility maintenance and repair; sets up meetings and events; and keeps Spectra Logic facilities running smoothly.


Can you see yourself here?

  • Performing general facility maintenance to include basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, drywall patching, replacement of ceiling tiles and flooring repair.
  • Performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of HVAC equipment including RTUs, Water Source Heat Pumps and Split Systems.
  • Working with a standard CMMS ticket based management system to communicate and track customer requests and maintenance tasks.
  • Completing customer requests for miscellaneous repair, installation and maintenance tasks.
  • Maintaining stock of consumable products – I.E. lights, filters, belts Etc. using a min/max system.
  • Ensuring Spectra safety procedures and policies are properly followed at all times including but not limited to operation of power tools and hand tools, working at heights, lock out tag out, enclosed spaces, electrical and rotating equipment.
  • Sharing On-call duties with the other Facilities techs.
  • Being responsible for maintenance and security of facility maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Performing other duties as required.
  • Being able to work in a group or work independently with little or no supervision.

COMPENSATION - $52,000 - $60,000

What you need to bring to the table

  • At least two years’ experience.
  • An NFPA 70E Certification (or ability to become certified within 6 months of hire).
  • Position includes indoor and outdoor assignments, climbing ladders, and assignments that include standing, lifting, stooping, bending, and kneeling. You will also be on-call one week out of every three.
  • Being capable of working extended hours, to include weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
  • Be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice so that various types of communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities, to include the exchange and receipt of information over the telephone.
  • Position involves standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, lifting, carrying and moving objects that can weigh up to 75 lbs. This movement can occur throughout the day.
  • Be able to drive a car, and possess a valid driver’s license. Must be able to transport self around the facilities and amenities.
  • Position will alternate between working indoors in a controlled climate and with proper lighting, to an outdoors setting with variable climate and lighting.
  • Being able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail oriented, and have excellent reasoning and communication skills.

It would be nice if you had

  • Previous HVAC Experience or HVAC credentials such as NATE and EPA 608 Certifications.
  • Previous Commercial Facilities experience.
