JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with a lot of variety in your work? Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to lead a team that helps design office space? Do you enjoy remodeling and construction projects? If so, the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) may be the employer for you!
DIR was established in 1927 and its mission is to improve working conditions for California's wage earners and to advance opportunities for profitable employment in California. DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.
DIR is looking for a dynamic, highly motivated individual that can lead a new Facilities unit located in Los Angeles. Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II (SSM II), Facilities and Business Services Manager, the incumbent is responsible for leading staff who configure and modify new and existing office space across the state to maximize efficiency. The incumbent also oversees staff responsible for resolving facility-related issues with property management while maintaining communication with staff at all levels within the Department, as well as external stakeholders, the Department of General Services (DGS), contractors, and the public.
In this role, the incumbent provides oversight and direction to subordinate staff, including coordination, planning, organizing, and overseeing functions, including, but not limited to, personnel management, project management, facilities management, space planning, the development and implementation of reports, policies and procedures, and other related activities. The incumbent personally performs the more complex facility and space planning work.
The incumbent works in a cubicle environment in an office setting with artificial light and temperature control. The incumbent is required to work extensively on the computer, as necessary, for email communication, research, drafting performance management documents, and other purposes.
