Job Description
Facilities Coordinator, Campus Recreation (Temporary)office of student affairsPOSITION SUMMARY:

The Facilities Coordinator supports the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation and student leader staff to provide professional supervision of facility operations including the Motske Fitness Center, recreation areas and programming, as well as the outdoor volleyball and basketball courts. The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for interacting with student staff and patrons to enhance students’ connection to the community, physical activity, health and wellness, and self-efficacy. This position demands a high degree of attention to the condition and appearance of the facilities, health & safety precautions, and in coaching, training, and coordination of student staff. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation and is projected to start on 1/4/2021.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Supervise daily operations of multiple, highly visible, recreation facility spaces to ensure a safe, friendly, and functional environment; provide immediate assistance to students; and enforce risk management policies and procedures
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate 20+ fitness center attendants, and student workers as needed for programs and services
  • Manage the VU Rec budget which includes tracking and balancing personnel wages and various operational categories (e.g. equipment, events, student worker hours, vendors, etc.)
  • Manage day-to-day operations regarding commercial laundry, equipment check out, and Fitness Center operations
  • Submit work orders, service requests, inventory management and initiate purchase orders
  • Organize and implement educational co-curricular programs that support Vanguard’s learning outcomes of holistic formation outlined in the Four-Year Discipleship Plan
  • Schedule and lead fitness programs that connect students to the Fitness Center through guided instruction
  • Schedule and/or instruct guided group activities for students (e.g. yoga, Zumba, boot-camps, etc.)
  • Collaborate with other departments/programs to create and enforce policies/procedures that ensure a well maintained and cared for space that can be accessed by all students
  • Ensure proper maintenance and replacement of equipment and physical space of the Fitness Center

Miscellaneous

  • Support collaborative Office of Student Engagement programming and other Student Affairs initiatives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Must be willing to work various weekday evenings and weekends as required by the nature of the position
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Recreation Management, Kinesiology, or related field
  • 2 years of experience working for a campus recreation department, or related recreation facilities experience desired
  • Experience working with students of diverse educational, racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds
  • A strong and demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith, and a desire to grow both personally and professionally
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to work independently
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to supervise others and work in a dynamic, changing and diverse environment
  • Genuine interest in gaining experiences and knowledge to enhance student development via intramurals programming
SALARY:

Part-time, 20 hours per week, temporary staff position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. This is a non-benefited position.
