Job Description
Performs custodial services for offices, collections, laboratories, classrooms, and public access areas, including during special events using methods and products specific for use in a museum environment. Tasks require some organizational skills and the making of some decisions in the application of prescribed procedures. This position supports the museum’s integrated pest management program that helps ensure the preservation of more than 12 million specimens and objects through building and facility interior and exterior cleaning and monitoring for nearly 200 rooms and 198,000 square feet of public spaces, education areas, research labs, exhibits and administrative offices

Job Requirements
Required Education: No Formal Education, OR an equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:
- 618 months custodial and floor care
- Demonstrated knowledge of the materials, equipment, tools and methods commonly employed in building cleaning operations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning devices/equipment and of their care and maintenance requirements.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must be able to communicate well with faculty, staff and students, follow oral and written instructions, and to perform assigned tasks without close supervision.
- Must have knowledge of the safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components.
- None
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, dexterity, agility, carrying bending, squatting, and climbing.
- Ability to engage in repetitive motions including movements of the hands, wrists or fingers.
- Ability to see including color, depth perception or clarity.
- Ability to communicate effectively including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to hear including receiving detailed information orally.
- Frequent exposure to safety hazards from chemicals and onerous odors.
- Regular handling of greasy, inky, or dirty materials
- GED or High School Diploma
