Finance brings together enterprise functions that drive Wells Fargo's financial management, including accounting and control, financial planning and analysis, line of business finance, asset-liability management, treasury, tax management, and the company's investment portfolios. They also inform shareholders, regulators, taxing authorities, employees, and leaders of the company's financial performance through earnings releases, investor meetings and conferences, and meetings with regulators and credit rating agencies, following appropriate reporting guidelines.
CONTROLLER’S GROUP
The Controller’s Division is responsible for the Company’s financial statements, establishing corporate accounting policies, preparing SEC and regulatory reports and ensuring the adequacy of internal controls. The Division also manages and supports the Company’s General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Fixed Assets systems.
ENTERPRISE FINANCIAL REPORTING
The Enterprise Financial Reporting team is part of the Controller’s Division and consists of approximately 200 individuals with responsibility to ensure the overall accuracy in report production across regulatory and SEC reporting and across all segments of the Company.
AUTOMATED REGULATORY REPORTING
The Automated Regulatory Reporting team is part of Enterprise Financial Reporting with the responsibility to drive quality, execute effectiveness initiatives, and ensure strategic initiatives relating to the development of an automated regulatory reporting function, ensuring all are successfully accomplished. This group is dedicated to the development of a fully automated regulatory reporting production system.
The Enterprise Financial Reporting team is in a state of rapid and dynamic change with the intent of excelling amongst our peers in performance and structural efficiency.
The Automated Regulatory Reporting team will be instrumental in achieving this goal. This team will provide the strategic oversight and decisions throughout regulatory report production and throughout our data provider, operational, and technology functions to develop and ensure accurate regulatory reporting. These responsibilities culminate in the development of an instrument level regulatory reporting system capable of generating regulatory reports on an automated basis. This team will be responsible for the strategic development and detailed control and review to ensure the system is designed and implemented to produce instrument level accuracy in regulatory report line items across all relevant reports.
This team will act as an advocate for senior management in the execution of important strategic initiatives related to the automated production of regulatory reports. Primary responsibilities include ensuring that strategic initiatives are organized, communicated proactively, involve all necessary stakeholders, and are executed effectively in-line with firm-wide initiatives as it pertains to automated regulatory report production.
Role Description
The Consultant role within external financial reporting team responsible to meet the Company’s regulatory, SEC, and other external financial reporting requirements. The role supports external financial reporting (SEC, regulatory reporting, statutory) activities with a thorough understanding of reporting requirements, report production, end to end reporting processes, and data needed to deliver accurate and complete financial reporting. Communicates and provides consultation regularly with mid and senior level stakeholders throughout the organization. Supports FP&A / RRRP / capital forecasting on regulatory reporting related matters. Provides accounting technical regulatory capital and regulatory reporting guidance. Supports implementation of moderate to complex projects/initiatives. Understands compliance and risk management requirements for supported area.
This is an individual contributor position that will be responsible for reporting transformation efforts within the team and for the development and management of tools to produce accurate regulatory reports such as the FRY-9C, all supporting schedules, FR Y-14Q, FFIEC 031/041, among many other reports. This includes working with remote staff based on the EFR global reporting model. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated history of being an independent self-starter, ability to effectively communicate at all levels and capable of working efficiently to meet tight deadlines and adapt in a changing environment.
Additionally, the candidate will be a highly motivated team player and a self-starter who is accustomed to working in complex organizations, partnering with a diverse group of stakeholders, and achieving results.
Responsibilities
- Automate and streamline tasks related to the preparation of Regulatory Reports
- Understand Report Owner responsibilities, as necessary: This includes but is not limited to maintaining line of sight into end to end processes understanding and coordinating implementation of new tools and change management partnering with support groups (Governance & Oversight, Data Management, Analytics, Change Management, and Technology to improve the control)
- Provide meaningful assessments of IT control environments impacted by financial, risk, and regulatory reporting
- Assess compliance with Well Fargo & Company’s COSO based policies for IT controls impacted by internal controls over financial reporting and strategic planning for on-going IT control compliance with COSO policies (proactive anticipation of internal control related matters);
- Reduce financial and operational risk in all aspects financial reporting
- Monitor new and emerging internal control related guidance and issues and facilitate group-wide training to interested and impacted stakeholders
- Provide consultation and subject matter expertise for process and IT control related matters including evaluating severity of control deficiencies and related remediation efforts
- Provide process and control support and thought leadership for projects
- Act as a change agent for continual improvement of the control environment
- Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders
- Assist with projects impacting the team
Required Qualifications
4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics and reporting demonstrated through work or military experience; or a BS/BA degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, Business and 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics or reporting demonstrated through work or military experience
Desired Qualifications
A BS/BA degree or higher in one or a combination of the following: Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or Reporting- Ability to successfully operate in a complex and matrixed environment
- Knowledge and understanding of regulatory reporting: Federal Reserve, OCC, and SEC
- Knowledge and understanding of corporate governance, financial reporting systems, legal entities, and role of regulatory authorities
- Knowledge and understanding of capital markets: business and processes
- Ability to synthesize complex analytical findings into executive level communications
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
- Highly refined and professional verbal and written communications
- Strong research and documentation skills
