The North Carolina Department of IT - Transportation (NCDIT-T) is seeking an On-Premises Business Intelligence developer / Tableau UI developer for the Department’s dashboarding and visualization needs.

Candidate must have extensive experience building and maintaining Tableau dashboards and reporting for both internal and public anonymous customers. Candidate must have detailed understanding and experience working with Tableau Data Sources, specifically Rest APIs, SQL, SAP and ESRI Spatial sources.

This position is eligible to work from home 100% or come onsite once the office opens. They must come onsite to pick up their equipment.

Job Duties:

  • Develop, maintain, and manage dashboards and reports in Tableau Desktop and deploy as directed to Tableau Server.
  • Create Data Sources in Tableau Server and manage the certification, update process, and other key data management features.
  • Develop technical requirements and solution documents from functional specifications.
  • Conduct Unit testing to validate solutions meet functional and technical requirements.
  • Assist with integrated and user acceptance testing.
  • Assist with training programs and knowledge transfer to colleagues at NC DIT.
  • Create data visualization solutions in Tableau for public facing ncdot.gov websites.
. Requirements:
  • Minimum (3) years of experience in a large-scale Tableau environment.
  • Minimum (3) years of thorough knowledge of Data Modelling techniques and Data Security.
  • Minimum (3) years of being competent in use of standard MS Office toolsets to both integrate with Tableau and for use in documenting solutions.
  • Minimum (3) years of Proficient front-end design and UI/UX skills, specific to the Tableau platform.
  • Awareness of security and performance considerations in high traffic Tableau Dashboards.
  • Ability to help guide business data owners in defining, measuring, and analyzing processes to identify improvement and communication opportunities.
  • Proven experience in displaying complex quantitative data in a professional, simple, intuitive ways.
  • Ability to understand and incorporate existing design standards into new Dashboarding standards for the department.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
