Experienced Heavy Equipment Operator

G.A. Peak Excavating, Inc. is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operator(s) to support and execute general construction tasks in the Bucks, Montgomery, Chester and Lehigh County areas. The Heavy Equipment Operator must be able to demonstrate safe operation of assigned equipment based on changing operating conditions. The Heavy Equipment Operator is expected to use his/her experience and judgment to make decisions within his/her limits of authority. This position is not site specific as there will be work needed on various jobsites and locations.

• Heavy Equipment Operator(s) are expected to be able to:
• Work outside in all weather conditions.
• Available to work up to 10-12 hours per day and weekends if required
• Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Read and interpret site-specific safety plans; may be amended daily.
• Read and interpret equipment operator’s manuals.
• Operate heavy equipment or drive trucks.
• Work in areas of uneven terrain.
• Assist in the training of new or less-skilled Equipment Operators.
• Read and comprehend: site-specific rules, maintenance instructions, training manuals, Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDS), warning tags, traffic signs and procedure manuals.
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
• Drives/operates grader, excavator, loader, broom, tractor, dozer, dirt roller, pay hauler, asphalt roller and/or paver.
• Start engine, shift gears, presses pedals and moves levers to drive vehicles.
• Performs routine maintenance on equipment, lubricating, fueling and cleaning.
• Performs and records daily inspection of equipment as directed by equipment maintenance department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Communicate both effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person, on the telephone, and in writing.
• Excellent customer relations skills.
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic.
• Ability to do basic math.
• Ability to interpret load charts and to estimate weight.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license to operate any G.A. Peak Excavating vehicle.
• Meet the company’s vehicle insurance requirements.
• Must be physically able to perform job tasks.
• Must be able to pass all required training.
• Be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and subsequently perform your duties.
• Ability to climb and stoop while wearing PPE.
• Ability to tolerate the dust and noise which result from the demolition of contaminated buildings or structures, or remediation of contaminated soil.
• Ability to demonstrate common-sense understanding.
• Able to work various times during day, night or weekend hours, at various locations
• Education and Experience:
• REQUIRED - High School Diploma or equivalent.
• REQUIRED - Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• REQUIRED - Reliable transportation to and from work.
• REQUIRED - Must successfully pass a post-offer/pre-employment screening for controlled substances in accordance with DOT regulations.
• PREFER - (2) years of experience operating heavy equipment associated construction.
