The Boeing Defense Systems Space Electronics Engineering organization is looking for an Experienced Electro - physics Engineering Scientist (Level 3), whose area of expertise includes Radio Frequency and Microwave electronics. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead fast-paced teams working complex technical challenges in support of satellite communications programs. Electrical Engineers will interact with other engineering disciplines, including mechanical engineering, systems engineering and specialty engineering, as well as production operations, and program management. This position requires an individual with excellent technical, communication, relationship-building skills, and electronic hardware production experience. The person in this position will report to the manager of RF Electronics in the Space Electronics organization in El Segundo CA.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and validates space hardware for RF communication systems including but not limited to amplifiers, filters, and mixers.

  • Defines and conducts tests to validate performance of designs to requirements.

  • Manages appropriate aspects of supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements.

  • Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle by developing root-cause analysis of anomalies and other engineering support as requested.

  • Supports project management by providing work statement, budget, schedule and other required inputs and by reporting project status.

  • Writes appropriate sections of proposals to support development of new business.

  • Works under general direction

This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program

Basic Qualifications (required skills/experience):

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, mathematics, or physics and five (5) or more years of experience or Master’s degree and three (3) or more years of related experience is required; a combination of education and experience is acceptable.

  • Three (3) or more years of experience developing prototype RF communications or sensor systems

  • Hands-on hardware experience with electromagnetics

Preferred Qualifications (desired skills/experience):

  • RF/Microwave electronics test experience

  • Experience tuning chip and wire modules for RF performance

  • Experience leading a team of engineers and technicians

  • Experience with design/build of electronics for a space environment

  • Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics and experience in a professional exempt engineering classification is preferred.

  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Typical Education and Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
