Honors Pathway (HP) seeks to recruit a Full-Time Executive Director to lead its inaugural MicroCollege program site in Sacramento, CA helping low-income students transition to college. The estimated start date for the position is May 1, 2021 (or sooner).
Honors Pathway is a social venture headquartered in Oakland, CA. HP partners with a growing network of non-profit, regionally accredited universities and public high schools to operate MicroCollege programs. These unique college pathway programs enable low-income students to complete their first two years of college in a highly supportive environment – at no cost to them or their families.
MicroCollege is designed to help students who are college capable, but not yet college-ready, successfully transition to college. College courses and coaching are offered in small class sizes at standalone MicroCollege sites. In addition to college faculty, each cohort of 30-35 students is assigned a Success Coach and two Tutors who provide over 500 hours of academic coaching and support each year.

HP is seeking an Executive Director to manage the ongoing operation of a MicroCollege pathway program launching in July 2021 and serving approximately 150 students. The Executive Director will manage 5-6 full-time staff and 20-30 part-time staff, including the Director of Student Success, Student Success Coaches, and Academic Tutors. The Executive Director will report to the SVP of Programs.

Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee a college pathway program, under the oversight of the main campus, with several dozen employees serving approximately 150 students annually.
- Ensure employees both model and support students’ development of a growth mindset, while helping students build confidence in their capacity to succeed academically despite setbacks.
- Meet student achievement and retention goals by ensuring staff provides active student support.
- Coordinate provision of student services from main campus to location, including, but not limited to, disabilities services, library services, and financial aid.
- Collaborate with Operations Staff team to schedule classes, including a weekly student success seminar and also schedule, activities, and site events.
- Ensure staff develop and implement a college transition plan for each student
- Develop and implement creative strategies for assisting students with unique needs across a wide range of college preparedness.
- Engage with public school administrators and counselors in connection with enrolling new students.
- Regularly engage with local stakeholders, including parents/guardians, family members, student support groups, colleges and universities, local non-profits, social services agencies, and advocacy groups.
- Other duties as assigned.
Executive Director Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of management and leadership experience at post-secondary or secondary level; or leading a mission-driven organization focused on helping students transition from high school to college.
- Demonstrated success in supporting the academic achievement of students who are college-capable, but not yet college-ready, including low-income students from diverse backgrounds.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with a diverse group of students and staff.
- Demonstrated sensitivity in working with students and staff of diverse racial, ethnic, academic and socio-economic backgrounds, sexual orientation, and disabilities by showing respect for differences and the dignity of others.
- Master’s Degree from a regionally-accredited college.
Successful candidates will be required to submit official transcripts, as well as undergo a pre-employment criminal history background check with fingerprinting.
