Job Description

In this role, you will serve as a confidential executive level staff assistant to the Minnesota Department of Education's Deputy and Assistant Commissioners and report directly to the Agency's Chief of Staff. You will provide high level administrative assistance to a variety of task forces and workgroups and will ensure that stakeholders are fully supported in their efforts to provide the department with input on policy and programs. In addition to executive support, you will serve as an important coordinator and liaison for the agency's special projects, and will help initiate contact, coordinate meetings, and meet project deadlines.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience providing executive administrative support to an organizational leader or director;
  • Comprehensive experience drafting, writing, and edits reports and correspondence;
  • Technical proficiency with word processing, presentation and spreadsheet programs (ie. Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and Outlook).


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a confidential setting and handling confidential and/or sensitive correspondence;
  • Human relations skills sufficient to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with a variety of customers, provide excellent customer service, and communicate effectively and comfortably with state and agency leadership;
  • Organizing, planning, and prioritizing sufficient to coordinate schedules and meetings, manage correspondence, and ensure work is completed in a timely manner;
  • Analysis, problem solving and decision making skills sufficient to manage multiple priorities;
  • Teamwork skills to work collaboratively with others and act as a contributing member of the team;
  • Experience with successful management of diverse groups of people;
  • Three years of experience in an administrative support role.
