Evening Librarian, Part-time

Blue Ridge Community College is currently accepting applications for a part-time Evening Librarian. The part-time Evening Librarian will provide public and technical library services for the benefit of library patrons in a customer service-oriented environment. Hours will primarily be 4-8 p.m. Monday – Thursday on days classes are in session.

The College offers more than 100 programs of study, a wide range of college transfer courses, and one of the largest continuing education programs in the state. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited school or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: All persons must provide verifiable and relevant professional experience in a workplace setting or demonstrated instructional/teaching environment.

Knowledge and Skills:
The ideal person will possess strong personal and professional integrity, effective verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to safety. Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or similar products, database systems, College email and website, and other computer applications associated with the position.

• Must be proficient in the utilization of various modules of the SIRSI library management software.
• Must be able to provide print and online instructional material using a variety of methods.
• Must be proficient in assisting library patrons in the use of traditional as well as electronic resources.
• Must have customer service skills.

Physical Demands: The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
