Position Overview


We are seeking an experienced ER Tech/Unit Clerk to join our team! This is a PRN position working 1-2 shifts per week, or as needed. The ER Tech/Unit Clerk is dual role position floating between ER Tech and Unit Clerk duties, as assigned.


ER Tech Responsibilities


  • Gathers patient information for emergency room patients in the functional areas of admissions, discharges, insurance verification and emergency room treatment records
  • Providing efficient patient care related to bedside testing, specimen collection and procedures (EKG, phlebotomy, blood glucose and urine, sputum, stool specimen collection, dressing changes, etc.)
  • Assists patient with physical care needs (ADL’s, ROM, toileting, nutrition, etc.)
  • Documents clinical and technical patient care tasks in accordance with established policy and procedure
  • Monitors patient condition, readily identifying deviations from normal and reports appropriately to RN or other health care team member
  • Other duties as assigned

Unit Clerk Responsibilities


  • Answer phones and greet patients
  • Provide general secretarial/administrative support for the unit
  • Stock exam rooms
  • Order supplies
  • Maintain and clean equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications


  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • American Heart Association (AHA) approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
  • Paramedic certification, Intermediate EMT or CNA preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an ER Tech, CNA, EMT or monitor tech required
  • Must have excellent communication skills with a professional & courteous approach to patient/guest relations
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, sometimes during difficult or stressful situations
