Job Description

Position Title:

Equipment Technician

Department:

Dialysis

Position Summary: Performs routine and non-routine maintenance, repairs, and calibrations of dialysis equipment, H2O treatment equipment, and other auxiliary clinic equipment to ensure patient safety and proper functionality. Assembles and disassembles equipment in order to conduct repairs, properly calibrate instrumentation, and replace malfunctioning components. Conducts home visits in order to perform routine maintenance and repairs on dialysis equipment and to educate patients and their families regarding the plumbing and electrical needs of their home for proper and safe usage of dialysis equipment. Performs inventory inspections and requests replacement parts and materials as needed.

Critical Tasks:

  • Tests, repairs, calibrates, and evaluates all specialized dialysis equipment, H2O treatment equipment, and other auxiliary clinic equipment in order to ensure safety and proper functionality.
  • Maintains and ensures accuracy of records of equipment repair, maintenance, and inspections to ensure the availability of appropriate safety and operational documentation.
  • Identifies, removes, and replaces unsafe or malfunctioning equipment as needed to ensure patient and employee safety.
  • Assembles and disassembles equipment in order to conduct repairs, perform calibrations, and replace malfunction components.
  • Performs water quality analyses, monitors results, and makes adjustments as needed to ensure compliance with organizational standards and state and federal regulations.
  • Conducts home visits to perform routine equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Conducts inventory inspections and requests replacement parts, supplies, instruments, and equipment to guarantee availability of materials for continuing clinic operations.
  • Educates clinical staff, auxiliary staff, and patients and their families to ensure understanding and the proper use of equipment to guarantee patient safety.
  • Performs other job-related activities as requested.

Position Performance Indicators:

  • Demonstrates current knowledge of dialysis equipment maintenance and calibration and safety procedures within the dialysis clinic.
  • Protects patient privacy in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and GRHC’s Code of Ethics.
  • Works productively and cooperatively with a wide array of medical staff, healthcare providers, and administrators.
  • Understands and follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions. Attends safety education sessions.
  • Adheres to GRHC’s service standards and organizational values in interactions with GRHC patients, other customers, and fellow employees.

Required Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree in biomedical equipment technology or a closely related field of study required.

1 year of experience in the maintenance of renal dialysis equipment preferred.

Biomedical Engineering Technologist (BMET) Certification or similar Certification required.

Current and valid certification as a Hemodialysis Equipment Technician.

State of AZ Driver’s License with no significant violations during the last 5 years.

Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
