Equipment Operator

Bernhard, through the compliment of its affiliated companies, including Bernhard MCC, Bernhard TME, Bernhard EP Breaux, and Bernhard Energy, provides turnkey development, financing, design, construction, ownership, operations and maintenance resources and expertise, as well as full service mechanical, electrical, structural, commissioning/retro-commissioning and energy engineering services for healthcare, governmental, educational, institutional, commercial, and industrial customers across the country.

Primary Purpose: The primary purpose of the Equipment Operator is to perform duties as directed by Superintendent/ Foreman while operating any or all required construction equipment in the installation, removal or maintenance of underground systems on commercial projects.

Essential Duties:

• Operate various types of construction equipment including but not limited to: track hoe, excavator backhoe, skid steer, forklift/ lull and dig to grade.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging.
• Knowledge of trenching and shoring standards.
• Install underground sewer, water, & storm drain in trench.
• Excavating and/or backfilling utility trenches.
• Operating a loader to move pipe & fittings and manage bedding stockpiles.
• Some heavy lifting and labor.
• Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure that it is in proper operating condition.
• Service and make minor repairs to equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid Driver’s Licenses required
• Minimum of 4 years commercial experience operating equipment installing underground systems.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to operate multiple pieces of equipment
• Previous heavy equipment operation experience or training is highly preferred.
