Job Description

Environmental Specialist-

Role of the ESI position at client’s site is to work with multiple on-site customers in order to maintain integrity and compliance in regards to all hazardous waste operations at site. Daily “waste collection” rounds, ensuring compliance with all local, state and federally mandated regulations, and other functions as requested by client. Typical tasks are as follows

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

? Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures.

? Ability to operate company vehicle, pick-up truck in order to mobilize to and from multiple customer sites in the Bay Area over the course of a day and week.

? Manifesting, packaging, spill clean-up response and remedial activities, labeling, loading, off loading, and coordinating transportation.

? Maintain a professional image to clients by answering inquiries and suggesting solutions to existing/potential problems.

? Comply and enforce all compliance, health, safety, and procedures in accordance with VES-TS policies.

? Safe transportation of waste from satellite accumulation areas to the main 90-day storage area.

? Distribute adequate materials and supplies to ensure uninterrupted site productivity. ? Reports hazardous spills to the safety officer in accordance with state regulations.

? Performs or assists with clean up after major spills of biohazards, chemical or radioactive materials, during standard shift hours.

? Maintain supplies for all on site Veolia technician’s equipment and PPE necessary for uninterrupted waste handling and processing.

? Management of Universal Waste packaging, pickup points and disposal.

? Properly package and label all Veolia managed waste streams for satellite storage areas. ? Monitor stored radioactive waste for radioactivity in the storage area in support of a low level program as required.

? Perform weekly inspections of all satellite accumulation areas (SAA) and 90 –day waste storage area (WSA) ? Perform weekly/monthly inspections of safety showers/eyewash stations as required.

Education/Experience:

? High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required

? Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related science discipline preferred

Certification/Licenses:

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification
  • Valid Drivers License

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.03 - $29.00 per hour

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • HAZMAT: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Preferred)
  • IICRC Certification (Preferred)
