ESSENTIAL DEPARTMENT MANAGERIAL FUNCTIONS:
High school diploma or its equivalent preferred.
OTHER TRAINING, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Preferred, as a minimum, two-(2) years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing center or other related health care facility. Training in environmental control practices preferred, but not required.

Supervises, organizes, and directs duties of Housekeeping Department. Performs various tasks to provide that our nursing center is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.
ESSENTIAL DEPARTMENT MANAGERIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan, develop, organize and direct Housekeeping Department functions (including personnel and administrative etc.)
- Establish and maintain effective inter-departmental communication to provide positive working relationships.
- Comply with all Privacy and Security programs.
- Demonstrate appropriate/effective Supervisory skills that include fair and uniformly applied corrective actions administered without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, religion, handicap, or marital status.
- Instruct, demonstrate and supervise personnel in appropriate housekeeping techniques.
- Maintain staffing patterns in accord with staffing budgets.
- Review and respond to complaints/grievances (associate and/or patient or family) that concern your department.
- Report grievances to supervisor in accordance with procedural guidelines.
- Assist with the preparation of the annual nursing center budget.
- Comply with established budget restraints.
- Maintain a working knowledge of current licensure standards and the survey process.
- Greet new patients upon admission and provide support/assistance as needed.
- Provide hands on assistance in department functions as necessary.
- Be prepared to assist with any emergency.
- Dust mop hallways, patient rooms’ common areas etc.
- Wet mop areas, including the use of “wet floor” signs.
- Knowledgeable in the operation and maintenance of departmental equipment, i.e. buffers, stripping machines, housekeeping carts etc.
- Strip floors, apply floor finishes and sealers.
- Use buffer with burnishing pads.
- Re-coating and buffing floors.
- Aseptic cleaning techniques for various surfaces.
- Clean windows and other glass surfaces.
- Clean and polish metal surfaces such as stainless steel.
- Clean walk-off mats.
- Clean patient rooms for preparation of admissions.
- Clean patient rooms after a discharge.
- Clean occupied patient rooms.
- Isolation techniques (gowns, gloves, special cleaning, etc.).
- Clean rest rooms.
- Clean common/public areas.
- Clean light fixtures (over bed, bedside, ceiling and others).
- Perform waste removal and disposal including sharps and other infectious waste.
- Low/high dusting (furniture, vents etc.).
- Attend and participate in continuing educational programs to keep abreast of changes in your field as well as to maintain current licensure/certification, as required.
- Attend and participate in mandatory in-services.
- Conduct performance improvement/quality assurance activities as required/requested.
- Participate in nursing center inspections and any subsequently required reports.
- Honor patients’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints.
- Comply with Corporate Compliance Program.
- Report job-related functions/tasks that involve occupational hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids and others as necessary.
- Follow established safety procedures when performing job tasks and/or working with equipment.
- Perform other related duties as necessary and as directed by supervisor.
