Job Summary:
Environmental Services Supervisor responsible for the planning, organization, development and direction for the overall operation of the Environmental Services Department in accordance with all standards and guidelines. Ensures that the facility is kept at all times in a clean, sanitary and attractive condition.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Establishes standards and work procedures for the facility staff in accordance with the established policies of the facility.
- Prepares and coordinates a schedule and provides oversight of all general cleaning tasks and laundry services performed in the facility.
- Requisitions all supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner and maintains adequate inventory levels to provide a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
- Communicates regularly pertinent information related to Environmental Services Activities occurring in the facility.
- Coordinates and monitors resident moves and responds to resident requests promptly and according to policies.
- Monitors equipment and work areas to verify they are maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner; maintains strict adherence to procedures regarding cleaners or hazardous materials or objects
- Practices infection control, universal precautions, waste disposal procedures and other preventive and protective safety procedures as instructed.
- Coordinates repair and service needs with maintenance department as appropriate.
- Leads by example, fosters open communication and resolves conflict in a constructive manner. Manages and coaches department staff; establishes and maintains culture that supports the mission/vision of the organization and facility.
- Ensures department employees are appropriately recruited, selected, provided effective onboarding and training. Holds employees accountable to clear performance expectations.
- Completes performance reviews and provides timely and effective feedback to employees. Takes appropriate action to address performance and attendance problems.
- Schedules appropriate staffing levels in department to meet facility needs.
- Demonstrates high standards of excellence for meeting resident needs. Communicates effectively, establishes rapport and maintains relationships with residents.
- Meets requirement of regular attendance to perform job duties.
- Follows instructions and completes daily assignments as assigned and is proactive to change.
- Possesses understanding and compassion for the elderly population.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalency (required).
- Previous work and supervisory experience in Environmental Services and/or Hospitality Services Management (preferred).
- CPR Certification (preferred).
- Required to complete annual 12-hour in-service training programs (as well as supplemental online education). Failure to complete the 12-hour in-service training program, or any other requirement under internal policies, local, state, or federal law may result in termination
