Job Description


We are seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist for our Richmond, VA office.

The Environmental Scientist (permitting) will be responsible for the development, submission, processing, and negotiation of issuance for permits associated with impacts to both federal and state waters. This individual is responsible for the completion of permits that will be submitted to and reviewed by entities such as the U.S Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC), as well as Local Wetland Boards (LWB).


Qualifications


Education and/or Experience:

  • Must have a bachelor's or master's degree in Environmental Sciences or a related discipline
  • Must have at least three years of experience in the Natural Resources field with an emphasis on wetland and stream permitting and its associated regulatory processes involving but not limited to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC), and local wetland boards (LWB).
  • Firm understanding of the wetland delineation and confirmation process
  • Understanding of regulations associated with threatened and endangered species, as well as cultural resources is a plus.
  • Understanding of permitting thresholds and applicability is a plus
  • Must possess strong verbal and technical writing skills, and be able to read technical literature and engineering plans
  • This individual must be highly motivated, a self-starter; flexible, detail-oriented, enjoy interacting with employees and clients; willing to work at a dynamic pace to complete tasks and meet deadlines; and share a commitment to our firm’s vision, mission and shared values.
