Environmental Scientist 1
HDR is in need of a junior/mid-level Environmental Scientist to work in our Brentwood/Nashville office as a member of our environmental sciences & planning team in the KY/TN/AR Area. The position will involve the preparation of environmental permit applications, reports and studies, as well as occasional field collection of environmental data, including stream and wetland delineations, protected species surveys, and habitat assessments. The individual will also be expected to review and stay up to date on current environmental regulations and be familiar with GIS/CAD. The successful candidate for this position will have demonstrated knowledge in environmental resources and regulations and have experience with the Endangered Species Act, Cultural Resources and the Clean Water Act. Ecological/biological field work including habitat assessment, species survey, and wetlands assessment would also be favorable skills. The Environmental Scientist will have strong writing skills and will work closely with clients and team members to prepare and facilitate professional, well written, technically accurate documentation. The candidate will also participate in agency outreach and coordination and assist midlevel and senior staff in environmental task assignments as requested.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biology or Environmental Sciences, Resources or Planning.
- 2-5 years of experience with environmental permitting necessary;
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and familiar with use/application of GIS, CAD and MicroStation files.
- Local candidates are strongly preferred.
- Experienced in ArcGIS and familiar with use/application of CAD and MicroStation files
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, excellent communication skills (both oral and written), adaptability, and ability to work with engineers, planners, and agencies.
- Must have strong, demonstrated technical report writing background and familiarity with applicable environmental regulations, laws, and guidelines.
- HDR is seeking a self-motivated individual with strong organizational, problem solving, and research abilities.
- Ability to travel for work as needed.
- Ability and willingness to work outside under variable weather conditions.
- Ability to work as part of a team, with clients, and independently.
