Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Environmental Protection Specialist. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment.
Duty Location: Yuma, Arizona
Responsibilities
Serves in a technical capacity for handling, shipping, and disposal of hazardous wastes and spills of hazardous materials. Conducts weekly and monthly hazmat inspections of Yuma Area Office facilities. Develops and implements projects to clean up or remediate contaminated areas.
Maintains and tracks program progress related to the Pollution Prevention Program and updating technical requirements, associated resource program needs, and schedules. Provides for timely completion of program activities within established time-lines and budgets.
Maintains and tracks program progress related to the Environmental Management System (EMS) and Pollution Prevention Programs, and updating technical requirements, associated resource program needs, and schedules.
Works with external stakeholders ensuring YAO is complying with hazmat management and disposal regulations.
Coordinates with subject matter specialists in support of Pollution Prevention and EMS programs data needs.
Analyzes data and provides options for improvement.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

To qualify for the GS-09 level, your resume must reflect one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-07 level coordinating the proper handling, disposal and minimization of generated hazardous/universal waste - OR master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related; degree in an academic discipline related to this position- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
To qualify for the GS-11 level, your resume must reflect one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-09 level coordinating the proper handling, disposal and minimization of generated hazardous/universal waste AND participating in emergency manangement drills and emergency events OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., in an academic discipline related to this position- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). Applicants eligible under the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) are not required to meet time-in-grade restrictions in order to be considered.You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions, by 09/21/2021.
