The acquisition of Spear advances Sensata’s electrification portfolio and strategy into new clean energy markets and enables the Company to deliver more comprehensive energy storage solutions to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers in specialty transportation markets.The EHS Specialist (EHSS) serves as a designated safety representative for facility, coordinating and implementing all areas of a Safety Program. The incumbent is responsible for creating, coordinating and maintaining company policies adhering to local, State and Federal environmental, health and safety regulations. The EHSS evaluates the organization’s procedures, facilities, and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. The EHSS promotes a positive safety culture while complying with Spear safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment. This includes conducting trainings and coaching associates on observed work habits.
- Ensures compliance with standard operating procedures, regulatory safety in compliance with national and international regulations and regional regulations for the reporting of adverse events to regulatory agencies
- Acts as a liaison internally and with external collaborators to develop programs
- Key Participant in the development and preparation of reports for company management as well as external regulatory agencies
- Key participant in the preparation of new product application safety updates, investigational new product safety reports, investigator communications, product labeling/package inserts and other reports as necessary
- Organizes with the maintenance of records on lost time accidents and prepares appropriate reports
- May implement hazardous waste control and disposal activities including training, collection, disposal, and records maintenance, as well as conservation programs within the organization
Experience / Qualifications
- A university degree and 2-4 years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 0-2 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree)
- Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

Additional Responsibilities:
- The EHSS is required to maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams. The EHSS supports management’s efforts to ensure compliance with all Safety Program expectations and applicable federal & state laws. The EHSS also conducts risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Safety Hazard Analysis) and new equipment introductions. In addition, the EHSS is responsible for recommending appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomics.
- Advise the organization on safety protocols and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies, including OSHA, EPA and NFPA.
- Respond to and analyze accident investigation and near miss reports, including emergency situations involving hazardous materials, fire, and smoke incidents; conduct investigations, prepares reports of findings and observations, and provide recommendations.
- Analyze accident and incident reports for trends, making recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
- Conduct regular inspections of warehouse, production, test and prototype and other high-risk areas to perform safety observations for compliance with internal policy, local, state and federal safety rules and regulations. Identify potential safety and compliance issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Develop, implement, and conduct training.
- Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues in the workplace.
- Experience leading and managing a team, analyzing accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns, and conducting job hazard and job safety analyses.
- Experience in emergency response and currently holds First Aid and CPR certificates
- Experience in Worker’s Compensation case management
Travel Requirements:
This position requires travel both domestically and internationally up to 15%.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Residence required to support government contracts.
Physical Requirements:
This position also involves considerable standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time. May require lifting parts up to 50 pounds.
