Every other weekend and every other holiday.
Note: Only current EVC Associate I workers with seniority work the morning shift (7:00am-3:30pm). Once hired, you may talk with your supervisor to submit a shift preference form to change shifts, but there is no guarantee.
Position Summary:
Reporting to, and working under the direct supervision of, an Environmental Services Supervisor, the Associate I helps to ensure patient safety and customer satisfaction by providing timely and thorough cleaning services to keep Hospital in orderly, sanitary and attractive condition. Provides thorough and efficient cleaning services to a wide variety of areas including but not limited to: inpatient areas, clinical exam rooms, operating rooms, pharmacies, MRI rooms, offices, conference rooms, restrooms, utility rooms, and corridors. Keeps equipment and supplies in a safe and clean condition. Cleans assigned areas using specified products while following established procedures. Uses interpersonal skills effectively to communicate to customers, co-workers and supervisors, as appropriate. Maintains professional conduct at all times. Channels customer complaints to others, as appropriate. Provides outstanding customer service while interacting with patients and visitors, at all times. Completes and submits repair work order requests as needed for equipment, work areas (e.g. EVC closets), assigned areas (e.g. patient rooms), ORs, pharmacies, offices, restrooms, public areas (e.g. hallways and lobbies), etc. Ensures sufficient supplies and equipment at the beginning and end of shift for EVC closet/carts in assigned area(s).
Education:
Requires the ability to read at minimum of 8th grade level, and mathematical ability of at least a 6th grade level. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Work Experience:
Requires three (3) months of continuous work experience or the successful completion a JHH/JHHSC-approved OTJ Sponsored Training Program (i.e. Transitional Employment Partnership Program). Six (6) months of industrial housekeeping strongly preferred.
Knowledge/Skills:
Requires ability to read and understand English in order to follow instructions, job assignments, schedules, work orders and chemical labels. Ability to utilize and understand universal safety precautions when cleaning patient rooms.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaner and carpet extractor. Must possess effective verbal communications skills and the ability to interface with customers, co-workers and supervisors when necessary.
