Job Description
The Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer are primarily responsible leading, defining and implementing Hoag Hospital’s (Hoag) Server configuration standards across the enterprise. Works independently to make those day-to-day decisions in the management of the Hoag Enterprise Infrastructure Server environment. Other responsibilities include defining the base server standards, server deployment methods and server strategy. Provides technical expertise to evaluate, install and maintain enterprise-wide hardware and software solutions to accurately meet the needs of our customers on a timely basis. Technically mentors support staff with advanced technical solutions or problem resolution. Provides advanced support for complex Enterprise Infrastructure servers and application incidents. Develops and implements changes to existing Server configurations using departmental standards, including appropriate testing and planning beforehand. Ensures proper tools and equipment are used in monitoring and maintaining server and database performance management. Ability to successfully lead projects related to the provisioning of server and related solutions. Strong troubleshooting skills with various infrastructure related products. Strong documentation skills and the ability to transfer knowledge to peers. The Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer and Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer Senior project an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Supports the Information Technology (IT) mission to provide quality service to our internal and external customers. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer:
- Works independently to make those day-to-day decisions in the management of the Hoag Enterprise Infrastructure server environment
- Serves as the subject matter expert for all Enterprise Infrastructure server knowledge and support
- Provides the installation, maintenance, support, and enhancements to the organization’s infrastructure.
- Performs evaluation, design, installation, configuration, upgrades, testing, documentation, and expansion for desktop, laptop, management, and operating technologies.
- Supports the functions which contribute to the continued operation of the Hoag’s IT department.
- Participates in projects to ensure the successful implementation and operation of Windows-based systems.
- Communicates Hoag IT standards to project team and vendors.
- Responsible for working with other system engineers to maintain and enhance existing Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) infrastructure.
- Participates in strategic initiatives while performing technical project activities.
- Assists, where possible, in streamlining daily operations.
- Monitors system performance, diagnoses system issues, and performs emergency and scheduled maintenance to maximize system availability and reliability.
- Responds to, resolves and follows up on reported issues through the trouble ticketing system within an ITIL environment using departmental processes.
- Coordinates with user community and vendors scheduling times and user procedures necessary for operating system upgrades and/or maintenance.
- Supports password maintenance, new user logon and setup, file access permissions, and data protection procedures.
- Ensures environment and components within are managed with high emphasis on information security; protecting the organization from threats and data loss prevention.
- Proposes and implements system enhancements.
- Develops and maintains operational documentation.
- Provides guidance and support to System Administrators, Service Desk Personnel, and Desktop support teams.
- Prepares monthly status reports, quantitatively reporting system performance and uptime.
- Works with Senior Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer to design and implement complex enterprise solutions.
- Adheres to organization, IT, and change/release management policy and procedures, and service level agreements.
- Updates skills as changes occur in the hardware/software infrastructure.
- Position may require travel between various Hoag locations and its affiliates.
- Position may require participation in 24/7 department on-call program. On-call employees are required to carry a department issued cellular phone or pager, respond to calls within 15 minutes, troubleshoot problem and provide services off-site as needed and be available to provide services on-site as needed within 1½ hours of being called or paged to respond.
- Position may require participating in meetings outside of normal business hours including occasional evenings and/or weekends.
- The Position is in a support department which operates a call center 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide support and service. Operations include 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts. Employees may be required to pick up shifts outside of their standard assignment for coverage due to vacations, holidays, staff shortages, or other special circumstances as determined by leadership. Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer Senior: In addition to the above, the Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer Senior will:
- Performs as technical lead on projects.
- Evaluates new equipment, operating system upgrades and patches.
- Responsible for securing system resources.
- Designs, implements and tests new applications and equipment for the Windows-based system infrastructure.
- Prepares system build documentation and audits server builds.
- Assists with vendor management.
- Develops and maintains policies, procedures and standards specific to server activities.
- Identifies opportunities to automate procedures, increase efficiencies, and eliminate recurring problems.
- Develops and implements department specific performance and service standards and training certifications.
- Develops and performs training related to system operational monitoring and initial trouble analysis.
- Mentors others within the group.
- Provides regular updates to management.

- Minimum one (1) work experience as Enterprise Infrastructure administrator or equivalent
- MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Associate)
- Associate degree in related technical field or equivalent experience
- Expertise in Windows 2012/2016/2019 Operating Systems & Active Directory
- Experience with Microsoft applications, i.e.: O365, IIS and Terminal Services
- Experience with Help desk software
- Experience with anti-virus software
- Experience with system monitoring software
- Experience with backup software and recovery procedures
- Experience with HP and Cisco servers
- Experience with RAID configurations
- Experience with VMWare ESX and VDI platforms
- Experience with Citrix Xenapp/Xendesktop Server platform Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer Senior: In addition to the above, the Windows Engineer Senior will have:
- Seven years minimum experience in systems administration or technical support, including at least five years experience as a mid-range administrator in a multi-server environment
- MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) - Windows 2012/2016/2019 Server
- Associates degree in computer science or related IT field, plus five years experience in IT operations, or seven years experience in IT operations
- Experience with Microsoft clustering
- Experience with Active Directory OU structure and group policies
- Experience with scripting
- Experience with SAN technologies, including SCSI, Fiber Channel, HBAs, storage zoning, volume management, replication, and storage consolidation
