POSITION SUMMARY:Under general supervision, the Engineering Technician III provides support to the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and operational contractual requirements by performing a variety of standardized or prescribed assignments during the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, fabrication, construction, and operation of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems in accordance with RCM specifications.
TYPICAL DUTIES:1. * Services or repairs simple instruments or equipment like heating, ventilation and air conditioning, pumps, generators etc. 2. * Constructs components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions. 3. * Conducts a variety of tests using established methods, which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data. 4. * Extracts and compiles a variety of data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., identifies errors or inconsistencies and selects prescribed method to process and present data. 5. * Assists in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts. 6. * Maintains and evaluates equipment history for future trends. 7. * Establishes and maintains filing systems, databases, and logs as needed for tracking project status and inventory. 8. * Provides clear documentation of findings and results. 9. * Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager. 10. * Performs alignments, including laser, sheave, reverse dial indicator, etc. 11. * Conducts dual and single plane balancing; installs vibration mounting pads and transducers. 12. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Two or more years of work experience in construction, or maintenance and operations of facility management systems or utility site infrastructure systems;
- Knowledge of basic building and residential construction practices and methodologies; technical understanding and codes; - Ability to research and apply diagnosed methods and practices to existing equipment as well as future innovative methods;
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints;
  • Experience in all phases of coordinating, performing and/or scheduling property condition assessments;
  • Experience developing and maintaining work logs and reports for management review of departmental effectiveness is preferred;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to make presentations and respond to inquiries by management, team, vendors and/or customers;
  • Human relation skills to build effective relationships with team and internal customers;
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software;
  • Knowledge of business English including vocabulary, spelling, and correct grammatical usage and punctuation;
  • Mathematical skills to include the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations;
  • Demonstrated customer service, common sense, problem solving and analytical skills;
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities;
  • Excellent time management with the ability to prioritize and manage projects is essential;
  • Computer literacy and skills in specialized software related to department operations including database, spreadsheet, word processing, internet and presentation software applications;
  • Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and common-sense skills;
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED
CERTIFICATES REQUIRED:The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements:
Fed Security Clearance
Valid Driver's License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:
  • Answering phone/making calls
  • Viewing computer screen
  • Utilizing keyboard
  • Maneuvering to and around worksite and equipment
  • May require standing, walking, walking on uneven surfaces
  • Bending, kneeling, stooping, crawling, reaching and entering confine spaces
  • Lifting or moving materials up to 35 pounds
  • Climbing ladders

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed at a customer’s location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment. May require driving to and from worksite locations. Equipment can be located in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facility. Employees may be exposed to hazardous and/or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat. Frequent travel is required.
