Overview:
The Engineering Manager will report to Director of Engineering and will be responsible for assisting in maintaining the building and grounds with particular attention towards safety, security and asset protection. Furthermore, this role assigns, tracks and follows up on status of work assigned to staff and contractors as needed and helps to increase guest and team member (team member) satisfaction through effective communications and training. This role will also assist in managing budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance and energy conservation. The ideal candidate for this role would be highly detail oriented and meticulous with a strong ability to connect and engage with team members and guests alike.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assists in effectively planning, scheduling and evaluating preventative maintenance programs.
  • Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with team members
  • Monitors timeliness and quality of completion of repair work orders.
  • Assists in managing the physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical and life safety systems.
  • Assists in providing regular on-going communication with team members in order to create awareness of business objectives, communicate expectations and recognize performance.
  • Recommends or arranges for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment.
  • Selects and order or purchase new equipment, supplies, and furnishings.
  • Assists in supervising the day-to-day operations of Engineering and related departments.
  • Assists in inspecting and evaluating the physical condition of facilities in order to determine the type of work required.
  • Maintains accurate logs and records as required.
  • Operates generators and fire pumps as necessary.
  • Provides emergency response services 24/7.
  • Repairs equipment (e.g., refrigeration, laundry) as necessary.
  • Ensures all team members have the proper supplies, equipment and uniforms.
  • Empowers team members to provide excellent customer service.
  • Sets a positive example for guest relations.
  • Helps train team members in safety procedures.
  • Supports a departmental orientation program for team members to receive the appropriate new hire training to successfully perform their job.
  • Communicates performance expectations in accordance with job descriptions for each position.
  • Assists as needed in the interviewing and hiring of team members with the appropriate skills.
  • Uses all available on the job training tools for team members

Qualifications:

  • High school degree (or equivalency) with Hotel/College training preferred
  • Stationary Engineer’s license if required by local code
  • HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills required
  • Substantial knowledge of local laws and building codes
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Engineering/Maintenance or related professional area.
  • Hold applicable certificates (Security License, FSD, CPR, etc.)
  • Knowledge and ability to read P&L, budget, financial statements
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to train and develop team members.
  • Experience working in a labor organized environment preferred
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by team members and guests.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary. Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Must have solid background in OSHA regulations, emergency planning and response efforts and be in compliance with all legal, state and federal safety requirements
  • Ability to focus attention to performance of tasks despite frequent, stressful or unusual interruptions.
  • Ability to converse calmly with irate Guests’, team members, or captains (managers) in sometimes tense situations. Also have the ability to de-escalate situations.
  • Ability to conduct fire drills and earthquake drills/evacuations on a quarterly basis for compliance

Pay: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
