Job Description

Position Overview

Novelis - Davenport has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Engineering Leader with an interest in growing within a manufacturing environment.

This position is responsible for leading the mechanical and electrical engineering services in the manufacturing unit, utilizing resources in the most economical, efficient, and safe manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage capital budgets, execute capex projects within time and budget, define performance objectives, development plans, goals and programs to contribute to maximization of return on investment of the unit.
  • Manage all unit operations to attain site and corporate objectives and plans, and to meet customer expectations with respect to the production and shipment of product.
  • Coordinate the utilization of available equipment and resources to manufacture products at the most economical costs consistent with meeting quality standards and preserving employee and equipment safety.
  • Encourage and promote process, product and equipment development to contribute to maintenance or improvement of profits and minimization of operating costs.
  • Direct, develop and train personnel to establish an engineering unit that effectively and continually functions smoothly and efficiently, with individuals capable of handling greater responsibilities.
  • Leading, coaching, and mentoring of the engineering staff.
  • Administer site and corporate policies and procedures to uniformly ensure equal treatment of all employees and conformity with other departments.
  • Establish and enforce policies and processes required to provide safe equipment, a safe working environment, and safe work practices.
  • Promote EHS policy, implement the EHS management system and ensure continual improvement of EHS performance in day to day operations.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safe working conditions at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering discipline.
  • Preferably with a focus in mechanical or electrical.
  • A minimum of 5 years engineering experience.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
  • Personal traits should include the ability to utilize interpersonal skills to lead, motivate, train, understand, and develop others to attain the objectives.
  • Desire to take initiative and develop a pro-active relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs and fostering a collaborative relationship.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Solid computer skills with software applications proficiency, including Microsoft Office. Ability to learn new software programs quickly.
  • Must also possess leadership skills to direct, lead and develop other personnel to accomplish personal, plant and corporate objectives.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build cross functional relationships with Manufacturing Unit Managers.
  • Previous capex and departmental leadership experience preferred.

Location Profile

Established in 1991 the Davenport Casting facility employs more than 200 people and serves the building and construction industry. The site produces hot rolled coil by utilizing specialized blending melting and continuous casting processes to produce high-quality aluminum sheet from predominantly recycled materials. Davenport Casting has an active social responsibility committee that supports many organizations in the local community including Habitat for Humanity Riverbend Food Bank CASI and more. The facility also sponsors local events including their partnership with Junior Achievement in sponsoring and presenting at the Advanced Manufacturing Career Day.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $99,257.38 - $124,529.61 per year
