As a Shift Equipment Engineer at Micron Technology in Boise, Idaho, you are responsible for supervising, sustaining, and improving the equipment and/or processes, while working in partnership with production team members and area engineers. In this position you will supervise tool performance, schedule and perform preventative maintenance on assigned tool sets, and use mechanical, electronic and PC/software skills to solve and repair equipment issues. They are also required to assist with equipment installs, engineering tests, build and modify equipment procedures, increase tool uptime through systematic problem solving and troubleshooting, quality workmanship, and thoroughly document all maintenance.

Communication & Collaboration:

This includes partnering with 1st Shift Engineers and Shift Engineers/Technicians to execute to daily activities and extraordinary activities that include issues that could cause yield loss, excursions, defects, tool restrictions, or output loss.
- We collaborate with leaders on our improvement opportunities to construct personal performance and development goals. This benefits everyone by improving performance, output and job satisfaction.
- Clear written communication is meaningful to ensures pass down communications are updated and accurately reflects the work performed and tool current statuses. This increases our work efficiency and quality tracking.
Technical/Data Analysis:
- Provides troubleshooting support for sophisticated issues and addresses root causes
- Provides effective and timely mentorship to resolve equipment issues and is highly engaged in key problem resolution
- Supports TPM practices including TPM metrics, WS health reports, CIP items, MTAGs, MOP documents and restoration guides
- Partners with teammates to develop hardware and software improvements
- Identifies the golden tool and optimizes the rest of the fleet to match
- Creates reports summarizing equipment availability, variability, and cost reduction projects
Project Management/Planning:
- Improving what we do and how we work is part of everyday activities Micron! You are responsible for partnering with equipment owners to develop, prioritize, and run projects. Often will be leading projects to ensure objectives are completed within the required scope, schedule and budget. Tracking actions and providing solution paths or resources to ensure actions will be completed on time will be required to be successful at project management.
Successful Candidates must have the following Qualifications:
- Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, including fundamentals of electricity, and basic electronic components and circuits
- Strong mechanical aptitude to enable understanding of mechanical systems
- Vacuum system knowledge and critical thinking involving vacuum systems
- Proven track record to use schematic diagrams to fix systems to components level
- Intermediate PC skills including a familiarity with MS Office suite program and equipment management programs.
- Knows the process flow related to area equipment. This includes knowing how the process recipes work and what the equipment is being expected to do during the recipe.
- Intermediate understanding of the Fab process areas including area processing equipment
- Basic knowledge of the main utility systems supplied by the Facilities group
- Know SPC principles such as improving Cpk and reducing defectivity baselines and how the equipment affects SPC performance.
- Understand how process control programs and manufacturing execution system interact.
- Proven track record in multi-tasking complex projects and enjoy working in a fast pace environment
- Consistent track record to tackle basic problems and address root causes
- Knows the ideal gas law and how changes to pressure, temperature and amount of gas can affect a process. Knows what chemical reactions are and what reactions occur within the area process equipment. Can solve simple algebraic equations and two to three variable equations.
- Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills
- Confirmed time management, organization, and prioritization skills
- Validated ability to follow procedures and work with minimal supervision
- Flexible with job responsibilities and shift assignments
Education Requirements
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or semiconductor experience; however, other engineering or related fields may be considered
