OUR OPENING:

Summary

Incumbent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and developing an individualized career transition and placement plan for each student, in compliance with government and management directives. Additionally, incumbent is responsible for providing and overseeing work-based learning activities in accordance with government and management directives.

Essential Duties Job Functions

  • Initiates and maintains individualized career transition and placement plan for each assigned students.
  • Monitors and conducts interpretation of training progress and complete student performance appraisals, maintain documentation and records.
  • Participates in the career management team to address the needs of the career transition and placement plan of each student; develop career plan for each student in conjunction with other team members.
  • Refers students to other program areas such as transfers, extension or advanced programs, college placement, etc.
  • Implements and maintains a collaborative system of communication to include intra departmental and outside community services to facilitate student transition and placement.
  • Communicates effectively with graduates and former enrollees to help facilitate student placement and positive job retention.
  • Ensures a WBL agreement is completed and on file with each WBL site in compliance with government and management directives.
  • Maintains accountability for students on WBL; Visits works sites and provides documentation of visits.
  • Acts as liaison between student and WBL employer as needed.
  • Develops new WBL sites with employers.
  • Participates in center industry work groups and state industry council meetings.
  • Utilizes community resources as needed to help place students and provide supportive services.
  • Identifies graduating students two months prior to separation and ensure that a placement and transition plan is developed.
  • Assesses placement and support needs of separating students, contact employers, work source centers, etc., to arrange for interviews and other activities to promote placement.
  • Places separating students in jobs, military or school directly prior to departure from the center or coordinate placement services with appropriate 3rd party contractor staff; maintain records of direct placements.
  • Ensures information is correctly entered into CIS case notes.
  • Supports and promote center zero tolerance policies.
  • Participates in student employability programs and activities.
  • Promotes the development of career success standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students when necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions
  • Maintains accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • Having proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all levels of Center staff and students.
  • Strong orientation to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and display ethical behavior.
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team and provide leadership to a diverse group of staff working towards a common goal.
  • Ability to develop rapport and positive working relationships with all departments
  • Successfully completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
  • Proficient in the ability to use the Microsoft Suite of programs and other related computer programs.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

Mandatory

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, counseling, or related field
  • Two years’ experience working with youth, with one-year experience in sales, marketing or counseling related services.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook & Power Point at an intermediate level.
  • Driver’s license in the state of residence with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must have the ability to successfully pass any drug or background check required on the contract.
