An Employment Consultant will support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach their individual goals of community employment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, exploration of the client’s personal interest to discover possible career goals, assistance with applying and interviewing, help set up transportation for the client to get to and from work each day, support during onboarding, assisting in on-site tasks completion, and continue supported employment for the client who needs extra assistance. The Employment Consultant must feel comfortable driving clients in person and company cars. Experiences working with individuals with disabilities are helpful, but not required.
Essential Functions/Job Duties:
- Meet with clients at least once every two weeks.
- Able to stand for a long period of time.
- Understand how to use a computer, the internet, and Google products.
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel.
- Help a minimum of 10 clients a year achieve employment.
- Follow guidelines set by Vocational Rehabilitation of Indiana and New Horizons.

Work Environment:
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
- This position is occasionally performed in outside weather conditions.
- The worksite depends on where your client's job shadow, look for, or get jobs.
- This position can require Employment Consultants to be on their feet from 4 to 8 hours.
- There can be light bending and lifting.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time position: Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with the possibility of a weekend if the client needs support on the weekend.
Travel:
- Travel is required. Staff will be commuting from client to client throughout the day. This is a reimbursable activity if you drive your own car. Company car may be available upon request.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma required; 4 years higher education preferred.
- Must possess or be able to complete the requirement for First Aid/CPR certification.
