Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Employee Resource Development Specialist coordinates and assists the recruiting, intake, assessment, orientation, advising, enrollment procedures and follow-up for Commercial Services employees who are in need of education and/or employment development. The specialist will coach, mentor, and facilitate activities for training clients in order to improve employability by utilizing appropriate training methods and motivational techniques to ensure retention. Also responsible for networking with outside resources to promote Goodwill’s programs and services. Builds and maintains relationships with all stakeholders. The specialist works with minimal supervision and relies on self-direction to complete goals and objectives as established by the organization and its funding partners. Responsibilities

  • Works with employees to assess and understand risk factors and needs and to deliver effective support.
  • Secures supplementary information such as employment, criminal history, medical records, psychological, agency referrals, eligibility documentation, or school reports.
  • Constructs and maintains initial individual documentation progress files.
  • Assists clients in developing individual development plans that will fit their specific needs and skills in relation to education and employment. Modifies individual plans as needed.
  • Provides direct counseling, intervention, advocacy, and referrals; provides transportation services when needed.
  • Works collaboratively with other staff members to determine root cause and appropriate direction for resolution.
  • Organizes and presents job readiness preparation either one-on-one or in small groups.
  • Participates in individual and group conferences in analyzing case problems and skill improvement. Arranges for evaluation or assessment to be completed as part of the intake and diagnostic process when necessary.
  • Assists clients in assessing community resources, support services, and so on, and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Provides job coaching and on-the-job training.
  • Assists clients in improving work behaviors and skills acquisition to enhance their success with employment. Conducts one-on-one follow-ups with employees to continually monitor individuals’ efforts and measure progress. Makes recommendations to provide guidance and counseling. Generates status reports and makes adjustments as needed.
  • Maintains and cultivates collaborative working relationships between Goodwill Industries of Central & Southern Indiana, referring parties and the funding resources to provide a smooth transition from the referring agency through the enrollment process and into appropriate programs.
  • Effectively leverages internal, professional and community networks to drive results.
  • Establishes regular contact with clients to offer services and to keep engaged, for follow-up and retention.
  • Tracks, documents, and communicates program-specific metrics.
  • Monitors accomplishment of numerical enrollment goals, participant enrollment dates, and participant achievement and completes billing requirements.
  • Provides support and direction, encouraging employee toward self-dependence in daily decision-making and problem-solving activities.
  • Conducts regular employment progress reports.
  • Documents client services utilizing multiple reporting systems.
  • Performs worksite analysis to determine potential accommodations.
  • Performs liaison functions with referral sources and other community agencies.
  • Participates in continuing professional development relevant to the objectives of the position.
  • Participates in staff meetings.
  • Attends community meetings as related to the identified goals.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services field with knowledge of working with individuals with barriers preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of direct, related work experience, preferably in a service industry
  • Military experience highly preferred
  • Able to work a flexible schedule
  • Demonstrated skills working with diverse populations
  • Successful hands-on case management experience
  • Experience in job placement with a focus on retention and career development
  • Adept at identifying keys to motivation
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, databases and the Internet
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with a professional network of community resources
  • Familiarity participating on project teams with the ability to develop trusting relationships at all levels
  • Strong planning and organizing skills, independent, self-manager with a high amount of energy
  • Documented success meeting program outcomes and metrics
  • Ability to analyze and interpret information and make necessary adjustments to achieve program goals
  • Requires occasional local travel and transporting individuals; valid driver’s license, up-to-date auto insurance, and good driving record
  • Must be able to pass a federal criminal background check
