Kadlec Regional Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for an Emergency Department Technician to join our growing Free Standing Emergency Department in Kennewick, Washington!
Shift Details: Full-time, 0.9 FTE. 12 hour Variable Shift. Shifts include weekends.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- WA State MA-R Licensure to be obtained within 60 days from date of hire into the position
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year hospital, physician office, emergency services, or other medical setting experience
- Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
As a Emergency Department Technician you will assists the registered nurse, physician assistant, nurse practitioner and physician in the ED/FSED in giving designated care to the patient under their direct supervision; and performs a variety of other related duties to assist in the throughput of patients in the ED/FSED.

- Adheres to the policies and procedures of the ED/FSED and Kadlec Regional Medical Center.
- Supports the Kadlec’s Mission statement and department and Medical Center goals.
- Demonstrates active listening skills to provide support for patient needs.
- Communicates information requiring action to other members of the health care team.
- Remains calm, follows directions and functions effectively during emergent, urgent or unexpected events.
- Follows through with assigned duties without any reminders and seeks clarification when necessary.
- Offers help and seeks help when needed.
- Uses the electronic medical record system efficiently.
- Assists the clinical nurses and the patient care team in collecting data and keeping the patient care area in a state of readiness.
- Assists in transferring patients to and from bed and/or wheelchair; assists patients in and out of vehicles using appropriate body mechanics or lift equipment.
- Assists providers and nursing personnel in clinical procedures including, but not limited to minor surgical procedures, suturing, special exams, lavages, casting and splinting.
- Prioritizes patient care activities based on acuity status under the supervision of the RN.
- Performs housekeeping functions after patient discharge, sanitizes stretchers and/or special equipment, makes up stretchers, empties trash/linen containers and assures functioning and cleanliness of department-based special equipment.
- Adheres to patient safety standard by verifying patient identification band prior to an intervention of a patient, i.e. right patient, right test.
- Implements provider orders promptly and accurately within the scope of practice.
- Adheres to standard policies as outlined in the department related to infection control and universal precautions.
- Wears protective devices when needed, i.e. gloves, gown, mask, and goggles.
- Adheres to standard policies as outlined in the department related to fire control and safety.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient related issues and medical information as outlined in hospital policies (HIPAA).
- Receives and accepts constructive criticism in an effort to modify performance.
- Utilizes Care Boards to communicate plan of care with patients.
