ELEMENTARY CLDE COORDINATOR (K-5)

Position Summary:

The Elementary CLDE Coordinator’s primary function will be to oversee the Elementary CLDE department, and provide guidance and support for the Elementary CLDE teachers to meet the cultural, linguistic, and academic needs of MLLs (Multi-Language Learners).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as the liaison between the school and the District CLDE Department.
  • Consistently demonstrate a passion for culturally and linguistically diverse education reform and leadership.
  • Oversee the identification, designation, re-designation, and exit processes of all Elementary MLLs.
  • Work with the Elementary registrar to collect any evidence (e.g., Home Language Surveys) during student enrollment / registration, and schedule the WIDA / W-APT screeners for placement as needed.
  • Work with the Elementary Testing Coordinator to schedule, coordinate, and administer the ACCESS testing for the Elementary MLLs.
  • Oversee the Elementary CLDE Department by coaching, guiding, observing, and providing feedback to the Elementary CLDE teachers as well as bringing up all department-related concerns and requests to the Elementary administration’s attention.
  • Create the CLDE master schedule for the Elementary MLLs.
  • Be the point of contact for all Elementary teachers for matters related to MLLs and the CLDE practices.
  • Collaborate with grade level teams, the Literacy Coordinator, and the MTSS Coordinator to increase achievement and promote growth of the Elementary MLLs.
  • Support the development of the Elementary CLDE teachers and the Elementary administration in understanding and implementing CLDE best practices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other support staff members.
  • Other CLDE-related duties as assigned by the administration.

Education and Related Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Masters Degree preferred
  • 3 years of successful CLDE teaching experience

Licenses, Registrations or Certification:

  • Current Colorado teaching license with CLDE Endorsement or equivalent work experience in the field of English language teaching

Condition of Employment

As a condition of employment, the individual selected for this position will be expected to complete the APS-sponsored Linguistically Diverse Educator (LDE) Certificate Program within the first three years of employment. New hires are expected to begin this program during the 2021-2022 school year. If the employee has a CLDE Endorsement, this is not required.

Reports to: Elementary Principal

Job Type: Full-time (186-day schedule)

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $55,000 - $70,000 / year (BOE)
  • Participation in CO PERA program, including a PERA 401k contribution option
  • Funding of 100% of individual medical benefits and a wide range of insurance plans
  • Approximately 9 weeks of summer vacation, 4 weeks of school holidays/vacations, and 8 days of PTO annually
