Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all management duties, including hiring, training and performance management for two (2) full-time clerical positions and additional part-time student staff.
- Evaluates performance of staff; when appropriate, implements disciplinary action (up to and including termination) in consultation with the Electronic Resources Management Librarian and Library Human Resources.
- Keeps Section Head informed of any issues concerning the operations of the unit and/or performance of staff.
- Ensures that the work of the unit is completed accurately and in a timely manner and that staff are performing assigned tasks according to priorities and established policies and procedures.
- Assists with the implementation of FOLIO ERM, including data input and the creation of workflows and documentation.
- Directs, distributes, and oversees work of the unit to meet the goals of the section, including: placing orders for new electronic resources; creation and maintenance of Database Finder/LibGuides Asset list entries; troubleshooting and problem resolution for access to eresources; special clean-up projects and data gathering projects as occurs; basic rapid cataloging and access to e-resources within the catalog; updates to the SFX knowledge base; proxy server updates and changes; set up and advertising of trials; supplying invoices to Payments; linking of electronic reserves, and collection of usage statistics.
- Managing and directing the renewal process of e-resources throughout the year, including: collecting price quotes and communicating with vendors; communicating renewal options with selectors; and updating records and access as appropriate.
- Creates and maintains online procedures and training documentation essential for the lifecycle management of e-resources.
- Communicates any changes in policies or procedures occurring outside of the unit, or elsewhere in the department, that may impact the processes of the unit.
- Conducts regular quality control review of the work of the unit; provides additional staff training and coaching if necessary.
- Assumes responsibility for non-routine and complex order processes, including the development of workflows as required.
- Triages complex problems associated with e-resource access (e.g., proxy server issues, excessive use violations, link resolver breakdowns, etc.); refers problems to the unit head or other Library units and staff as appropriate to develop a resolution; and implements solutions according to unit procedures or the instructions of the unit head.
- Monitors the emails sent to the Electronic Resources unit, forwards them to appropriate personnel as needed, and ensures that all emails are responded to within a reasonable timeframe.
- Maintains an open and ongoing dialog with other supervisors and managers in Collection Support, Technical Services, and Preservation with regard to workflow, changes in policies, procedures, staff assignments, and/or any issues that arise.
- Attends meetings, training sessions, or other library functions, and participates actively in discussions related to long-term distribution of duties and workflows.
- Coordinates budgeting, expenses, planning, and procedural changes for library initiatives.
- Supervises the building and expansion of library collections, consults in a specialty field, and plans one or more primary library programs.
- Controls the execution of tasks within a particular subject or functional area requiring an in-depth knowledge of library practices and procedures.
- Interviews, hires, and trains employees; sets and adjusts staff schedules, and manages performance.
- Performs other related work as needed.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience with managing library electronic resources, which could include: acquisitions, using electronic resources management systems, troubleshooting electronic resource access problems, managing link resolver software, entering proxy configurations.
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

Working Conditions
