DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY:
The primary function of this position is assembling electronic control panels, distribution panels, generator end enclosures and control devices using components, such as switches, relays, transformers, engine and generator controls, wire harnesses and mounting brackets, as laid out in drawings, wiring diagrams and verbal or written instructions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs electro-mechanical assembly, disassembly and rework. Some test and repair of various electronic products and mechanical assemblies
- Works from complex wiring and assembly drawings, operation sheets, engineering specifications and sketches and running sheets of significant complexity
- Utilizes schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, engineering drawings, wire lists, etc., and needs to be able to look at electrical blueprints and scan them for possible issues prior to installation.
- Able to edit/markup engineering drawings and communicate changes to appropriate design personnel
- Operation of small power tools, other hand tools and computerized and high-pressure equipment.
- Assembles in predetermined order, hardware such as cable mounts, brackets and DIN rails
- Fastens units or electrical components in specified locations on panels and boards using fastening hardware such as machine screws, washers, nuts and rivets
- Installs electrical components such as terminal blocks, governor controllers, voltage regulators, Speed switches, voltage sensing controllers, watt transducers, current transformers, relay assemblies, fuse assemblies, time delay circuits, transformers, power terminal block assemblies, circuit breakers, jumpers and wire harnesses
- Cuts, strips, labels, and installs wire terminals and mounts wires to connect electrical units
- Connects lead wires to ohmmeter, or other electronic testing equipment to test connections for continuity, resistance, shorts and grounds in accordance with the wiring diagram
- Installs relays, fuses, and appropriate legends
- Completes various panels by installing lights, receptacles, gauges, various electronic instruments, legends and instruction labels in accordance with diagrams, drawings written and oral instructions
- Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization

- Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:

YEARS EXPERIENCE/LEVEL OF EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred, Associate’s degree or Vocational school certificate in electrical preferred but not required
- Minimum three years of electrical systems experience, 5+ years preferred.
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Must be able to speak, read and understand English
- Experience with hand and power tools required
- Knowledge of phase coloring
- Ability to identify different gauges of wire
- Experience with EMI Connectors and building cables
- Knowledge of low voltage wiring 24Volt AC/DC
- Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, engineering drawings, etc.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime when necessary, including weekends

- Work is accomplished in a moderately clean plant environment
- The production floor does not have a cooling system
- The sound level in the work environment may fluctuate due to noises associated with manufacturing process
- Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil and/or fumes
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Performs all work in accordance with safety and workmanship and good housekeeping specifications
- Frequent lifting and pushing of up to 50 lbs., repetitive motion, occasional lifting and pushing up to 75 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, work overhead with arms, and sit or stand for several hours at a time
- Eye/hand coordination required, with steady and agile hands to operate equipment and tools
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as required per plant rules
