We are looking for an Electrical Engineer/Software Engineer to join our Test Engineering team! This position reports to the Manager of Test Engineering in the Cranberry Plant. Primary responsibilities include test system support for the manufacturing departments, developing new test systems to support capacity increases, continuous improvement efforts, and new product development (NPD). For approximately the first year, this position will include 50% travel across MSA Western and Eastern Pennsylvania based facilities. The position will then transition to dedicated support within the Cranberry Plant and align in shared responsibilities with the corporate Test Engineering department. Responsibilities:Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Investigate, evaluate, and resolve production issues stemming from manual or automated PC-based test equipment, including hardware and software designs.- Participate on cross-functional, continuous improvement and NPD teams to identify test system needs, drive product testing designs, and manage build and commissioning of new systems.
- Write software solutions in LabVIEW, TestSTAND and Python to drive a platform test system for printed circuit boards and assembled product.
- Write and submit project justifications to acquire capital funding to support and manage these projects.
Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:
Ability to review schematics, procedures, and specifications to troubleshoot systems.- Ability to interpret engineering specifications, agency requirements, and industry standards.
- Ability to develop and execute test plans to verify production equipment prior to release.
- Mechanical design, assembly and/or automation experience.
- Demonstrated sense of urgency when responding to customer support requests.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide timely technical updates to production operators, technicians, engineers, and managers.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently in an assembly environment.
Education and experience required:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electro-Mechanical Engineering or relevant Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited institution required.
- This position is available at three different career levels depending on experience, education, etc.
- Level II: Two years relevant experience
- Level III: Three years relevant experience
- Level IV: Five years relevant experience
- MS Degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience
Experience preferred:
- Experience in an electronic test engineering environment.
- RoHS soldering and manufacturing experience.
- LabVIEW visual programming language experience.
- C programming language experience.
- Experience with designing and developing equipment with motion control.
