Job Description

ASRC Federal System Solutions supports the FAA NAS ESS (Federal Aviation Administration National Airspace System Engineering Support Services) contract. Join our growing team as an Engineer in support of the FAA’s Power Operations Engineering Team. The Power Operations Engineering Team provides support for design review, analyzing, and testing power system. This includes backup features such as Engine Generators and Uninterruptable Power Systems (UPS). The Power Operations Engineering Teams provides support for analyzing and testing electronic system performance and power transmission capabilities, as well as produce engineering prototypes, studies, and technical documentation for various FAA technologies, workstations, terminals, and electrical subsystems are developed to sustain system operations. The Engineer assists the System Specialist in identifying, troubleshooting, and correcting problems, support restoration of sites after outages, issue hardware and software modifications and ensure NAS systems (National Airspace System) are supportable during equipment lifecycle.


Responsibilities:

  • Designs, Tests, Fabricates and installs FAA approved electrical and power transmission capability modification kits as required to enhance equipment function or replace obsolete equipment.
  • Analyzes facility and workstation electrical system power supplies and availability. Makes recommendations as to power system upgrades, modifications and installations.
  • Provide technical assistance in the installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment and services
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures, conduct testing of equipment and services
  • Review program-related documents
  • Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and Supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize output.
  • Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to any training made available by the company.
  • Will relay any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.

  • Coursework in areas including electrical, electronics, signals, analog and digital communications.
  • Good written and spoken communication including developing technical documentation
  • Ability to pass an FAA background investigation (US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required)
  • Ability to coordinate efforts with others for the timely completion of projects and deliverables
  • US Citizenship is preferred or Permanent Residency

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems emphasis preferred); MUST BE ABET ACCREDITED
  • Knowledge and understanding of 3 – Phase Power Distribution, Switch Boards, Breakers, Engine Generators, UPS/Uninterruptible Power Systems and DC Bus is desired.
  • Analyzes facility and workstation electrical system power supplies and availability. Makes recommendations as to power system upgrades, modifications and installations.
