Overview
Patients Medical Center (PMC) provides inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services to residents of Pasadena, Deer Park, La Porte, Baytown, and Clear Lake. The facility includes 53 medical/surgical beds, eight ICU beds and three endoscopy rooms, and offers a range of primary and specialized services—wound care, general surgery, gastroenterology, occupational health, heart and vascular, women’s services, diagnostic imaging, outpatient rehab services, and sleep disorders.g for those who are poor and vulnerable, and innovating how and where healing can happen, both inside our hospitals and out in the community.
Performs EKG's; charges and edits EKG's after physician interpretation; Assists with EKG training; connects and disconnects holter and event monitors; Performs signal average EKG's; and Bio-Z testing. Performs tests on adolescents, adults, and elderly patients.

Responsibilities
- Performs routine EKG's and rhythm strips in all patient care areas
- Responds to and Performs STAT EKG's and attends CODE BLUE situations
- Observes and reports potentially lethal arrhythmias to the charge nurse or physician
- Performs special electrocardiography procedures, such as signal average EKG, and esophageal lead tracings
- Completes preparation of 12 lead EKG tracings for processing and physician interpretation
- Edits EKG's interpreted by the cardiologist and Prepares for distribution to the patient's medical record
- Charges for tests completed
- Prepares connects and disconnects holter and event monitoring equipment
- Assists in orientation and training of staff to perform EKG's
- Maintains equipment by daily checking, stocking and cleaning
- Investigates minor equipment malfunction and Implements corrective action, reports major malfunction to Biomedical Engineering
- Will participate in the Quality Enhancement Process
- May be asked to perform other related duties
Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma/GED- Successfully completed a basic EKG course and passed the required examination
- CPR certified
- Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS)
- One (1) year experience
- Minimum of (6 months in performing EKG's monitoring EKG's, or holter monitoring scanning
