Our Cooper River site currently has an exciting opportunity for an EHS (Environmental, Health, & Safety) Manager to provide technical leadership and direct the environmental, industrial hygiene and safety (EHS) activities at the site. The Cooper River site is located in Moncks Corners, SC and is a key manufacturing facility for Liveo™ and MOLYKOTE® products, which is part of DuPont’s Electronics and Industrials business division. The materials produced in Cooper River are used in pharmaceutical, industrial and the automotive applications.
The plant operates utilizing a high-performance work system (HPWS) model in which Operator/Mechanics are developed in all areas of plant operations and common maintenance skills. A servant leadership mindset and a commitment to HPWS, fostering a culture of employee engagement and empowerment, is essential and critical to success.
The successful candidate will be responsible for safety, industrial hygiene, environmental management and the local, state and federal compliance and reporting. This role serves as the EHS representative on the site’s management leadership team and works closely with EHS Hub leader, the Business EHS leaders, and medical support staff.
Core Responsibilities:
Serve as the Cooper River site EHS representative when collaborating with other DuPont sites.
Manage Environmental permit strategy to ensure continuous license to operate.
Manage submittal of all regulatory required agency reports.
Ensure that systems are established and implemented to enable understanding of compliance requirements for the sites and business.
Analyze and evaluate EH&S performance across the sites and develop strategic improvement plans and goals to integrate improvements into business operations.
Manage the site EHS, contracted emergency services and contracted security services programs, and work to integrate these programs into business operations.
Provide EHS guidance to the site to drive a Commitment to Zero safety culture.
Chairs site Safety Committee meetings & provides topic guidance for Safety Toolbox meetings.
Network with other DuPont EHS professionals, trade and professional associations as well as businesses, sites, and other functions on tools and approaches for EHS compliance and be effective in shaping policy, best practices and standards for the sites.
Responsible for hazard screening of all new chemicals to be brought on site and manage the disposal of chemical waste in accordance with DuPont standards and protocols
Oversee the site industrial hygiene programs including occupational monitoring.
Serve as TSCA 8c coordinator for the site.
Develop internal audit plans (1st Party EHS Audits), review performance, and feedback gaps to management to drive continual EHS improvement.
Manage the site level interface with 2nd party corporate audit and represent sites during execution across various competencies (Process Safety Management (PSM), Safety and Industrial Hygiene, Fire, Distribution and Environmental assessments. Manage and in some cases develop corrective action plans and oversee resolution of audit findings.
Support injury and illness recordkeeping and case management process; maintain relevant logs and documentation.
Participate in field auditing and visibility for interactions with employees.
Potentially participate in 2nd party corporate audit at different DuPont sites.
Provide training and guidance in the maintain a safe work culture and ensure technical/functional and operating skills are current and effective.
Coach teams and individuals on EH&S issues. Provide geographic specific advocacy for the site.
Serve as site Responsible Care Management System Core Team leader.
Qualifications
Candidate must be a United States citizen.
BS in a basic science or technical degree in the field of EHS management, or relevant work experience in EH&S is required.
At least 8-10 years of site operations related experience is required for this position.
Experience and working knowledge of U.S. and State of South Carolina occupational health, safety and environmental regulations is preferred.
Preferred candidate would be credentialed as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or in the Comprehensive Practice of Industrial Hygiene by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (or equivalent certification recognized by the International Occupational Hygiene Association National Accreditation Recognition Committee).
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines as well as manage change and work independently.
Networking, influence, and conflict resolution skills with strong focus on deliverables with excellent oral and written skills along with the ability to apply these in the regulatory, advocacy and public affairs culture.
Demonstrated ability to utilize computer software (systems used are Microsoft Office, intra/internet, etc.).
