This position is responsible for the design, development and support of NextGen based EHR templates and related programming. Working closely with the Applications Analysts, the Applications Manager, and other technical teams, the EHR Developer will design, development and implement custom solutions that enhance the efficiency and usability of the EHR. In addition, the EHR Developer is responsible for supporting related interfaces and modules as well as integrated systems and devices. The EHR Developer will also work closely with internal and external technicians to troubleshoot system issues, as well as serve as a resource for organizational projects that require EHR expertise.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Develop NextGen EHR templates and documents based on specifications.
Perform complex analysis and troubleshooting
Following the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), modify various processes and stored procedures in the EHR
Maintain active relationships with clinical team to determine business requirements and lead requirements gathering meetings.
Support the EHR enhancement and upgrade processes, including configuration, build, testing, training, and go live of the EHR system.
Implement and maintain interfaces between EHR system and external systems such as Lab information system, PACs, Pharmacy, etc.
Identify solutions to non-standard requests and problems. Solves moderate to complex application related problems, analyzes technology solutions options and provides feedback to appropriate parties.
Assist management in establishing reporting requirements and develop reports from the NextGen database.
Facilitate group sessions as needed to elicit complex information on requirements clarification, design sessions, code reviews and troubleshooting issues.
Work with consultants and vendors as necessary to troubleshoot, evaluate new systems and implement technology solutions, serving as the main technical contact for the EHR.
Following the SDLC process, maintain and apply SQL updates, stored procedures; perform technical design reviews and code reviews, develop and maintain cheat sheets, job aids, technical documents and training guides as required. Prepare technical and/or functional specifications.
Ensure unit tests are completed and meet the test plan requirements, system testing is completed and changes are implemented according to plan. Test / peer review completed NextGen templates, NextGen documents, triggers, and code that is ready for release to production.
Follow the change request process and work with other teams as necessary, at times supporting production release after hours.
Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the technical development environment. Own environment refresh cycle and maintain knowledge and documentation of development items in environment. Coordinate with other teams as necessary.
Troubleshoot data integrity issues in the EMR and related interfaces, research and correct errors, open tickets and work with vendor(s) as needed. Own tickets to resolution.
Mentors others and may lead EHR-related projects.

Job Requirements:
Education Required (Minimum level of education): High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Certifications/Licenses Required: NextGen Certified Professional (NCP)
Experience Required (Minimum level of experience):
5 or more years of related experience; multi-platform experience with a strong understanding of how an EHR interacts with server and network components
5 or more years of experience working in healthcare information technology (HIT)
3 or more years creating and modifying SQL scripts and/or stored procedures

Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:
Experience developing templates in EMR/EPM, NextGen preferred.
Minimum of 4 years NextGen related experience preferred, specific experience with a Practice Management System and Electronic Medical Record (EHR) Template Editor and Document Builder
Knowledge of Mirth Connect and Mirth Result preferred
Strong experience with HL7, SQL Server, .Net and Crystal Reports preferred.
Knowledge of Electronic Health Records Systems, Health Care Specific Data Interface standards, and health information exchange technologies a big plus.
Multi-database and/or multi-language preferred.

Salary: $86,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
