Position Overview:
The Eaton global service team is one of the largest and most experienced teams of power system professionals in the industry. As one of our Eaton Field Service Engineers, you’ll help to provide solutions to our customers’ power problems. Active participation in recognized technical societies such as NFPA and IEEE and collaboration with a variety of utilities and industries ensures that our engineers and technicians are knowledgeable about today’s cutting-edge technology and engineering techniques. We assist customers at every stage of the power system: offering startup and commissioning of equipment, performing planned maintenance, monitoring performance, diagnosing system problems remotely, as well as responding to emergencies on a 24/7 basis, 365 days a year. Our support services help businesses make the most of their existing electrical equipment by optimizing performance and extending the life of existing facilities.
Your engineering assignments will provide you with the opportunity to perform field service engineering and technical assistance to a variety of customers in areas of installation, testing, startup, maintenance, repair, training and modification of electrical power distribution equipment; self-manage assigned electrical power distribution systems related projects; apply knowledge of electrical test and diagnostic equipment; deliver technical solutions to customers; perform complex engineering assignments that may involve equipment or product design, testing of materials, process studies, or research investigations. Our engineers operate with the mission of providing high quality service, support and solutions with a key emphasis placed on on-time, quality service and sustained relationships with our sales force, channel partners, and end-user customers. Travel to customer sites is required.
This role is designed to prepare you for both technical and future leadership roles at Eaton. As a new engineer, you will be provided with a structured training and development curriculum; a blend of instructor-led, virtual classrooms, eLearning courses, and on-the-job training provided by expert mentors and team members to assist you in developing your career.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements):
    • Currently possesses or will have obtained a bachelor’s degree in engineering with a major in Electrical, Electrical and Computer, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology or Systems Engineering from an accredited institution, with a graduation date no later than August 2021
    • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80 or higher (please do not round)
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without Company sponsorship, now or in the future
    • Possesses and maintains a valid and unrestricted driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
    • Overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Prior relevant internship or co-op experience within the electrical/power industry
    • Experience in testing, trouble shooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems is highly desirable
    • Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills
    • Excellent computer & analytical skills
    • Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or community
Position Criteria:
    • Field Service Engineers must have the availability to work evening and weekend hours. Frequent U.S. travel will be required by automobile within the district territory and possibly by air travel to support other domestic districts. Occasional international travel is possible to support global customers. Field Service Engineers must be available to be on-call and respond to customer emergencies. Expect up to 25 - 75% travel, within the district territory, based on customer requirements.

    • Successfully complete and maintain compliance with the company’s safety program
    • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, squat, and reach to or below shoulder level, lift, carry, push, pull, and use hands to handle and feel. The employee is frequently required to climb and reach above shoulder level. The employee is regularly required to lift/carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to push/pull up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull greater than 50 pounds with assistance.
    • Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings.
    • Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with electrical and electronic equipment.
