The Vine Early Learning Center welcomes applications for the position of Afternoon Education Assistant for its newly established childcare program. The Vine is a Christ -centered ministry that strives to provide an atmosphere of love, safety, and academic achievement, through sharing the love, compassion and principles of Jesus Christ. The Vine is seeking an experienced candidate with a love for God and His children. The Afternoon Education Assistant is responsible for safely securing and closing down the facility and rooms at the end of each day. Some other responsibilities can include maintaining the daily flow in the environments throughout the day, filling in for other staff members as necessary, and opening the facility or rooms. The Afternoon Education Assistant must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children. A positive and open attitude displayed toward children, family, staff, and administration is a requirement.
This position reports to the Operations Manager.
Duties
Closing and securely locking the facility and its rooms at appropriate times.
Responsible for the security of keys, passwords, codes, and the like.
Turning off lights and other powered equipment as necessary at the end of the day.
Clean up properly place materials and equipment away as required by the Operations Manager.
Fill in for staff members as necessary.
Ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
Lead by example; encourage the children's success through modeling and coaching.
Aid in ensuring all program policies and state regulations are met.
Requirements
Demonstrates faith in action and love for children.
Upholds Biblical values and principles.
Experience in understanding and utilizing Montessori environments, philosophy, and practices (desired).
Participate in recommended training programs, educational conferences, professional days, staff meetings, and other courses pertinent to professional growth
(with emphasis on Montessori development and Paths to Quality).
Minimum of 1 year of professional education experience.
Effective oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents).
A good understanding of child development.
Interaction with children should be open, honest, loving, and always with dignity and respect.
Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
