Compensation for this role:
Starting Pay: $15-$17 per hour, depending upon prior experience.
Work Status: 40 hours per week, full-time, exempt
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Domestic Violence Service Center Administrative Assistant will support YWCA Spokane’s Advocacy Support
and Mental Health Services departments with primary functions including, but not limited to, performing
receptionist duties in a professional and friendly manner; developing and maintaining positive relationships
with the community, staff and volunteers; and management of department data. This position will also assist
with administrative tasks as it relates to medical billing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position’s primary responsibilities include;
  • Greets and assists clients for advocates, attorneys, therapists and legal advocates. Provides information as
appropriate.
  • Provides crisis intervention and community resource referrals for walk-in and phone-in clients. Must be

able to locate and maintain a good knowledge of community resources.

  • Screens and refers clients calling into the Domestic Violence Service Center to appropriate personnel.
  • Manages data needs pertaining to DV Service Center programs, this includes data entry into various
databases.
  • Maintains the lobby and ensures that it is a welcoming environment.
  • Provides trauma informed customer service and advocacy for clients.
  • Provides new advocacy support staff and student interns training on the functions of the front desk.
  • Coordinates the collection of client data (i.e. completion of client intake forms).
  • Observe all program requirements for confidentiality and privileged communication.
  • Receives and processes insurance information (Explanation of Benefits [EOB’s]) and forms from insurance
companies.
  • Follows up with insurance companies about mental health benefit eligibility for clients and communicates
that information to clients and therapists.
  • Completes insurance verifications for all incoming mental health clients.
  • Provides quality control on insurance billing for Mental Health Services department.
  • Completes prescreens for clients and assigns clients to therapists with appointment openings.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in customer service preferred.
  • Experience in medical billing preferred.
  • Must maintain 20 hours of ongoing training on domestic violence issues annually.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception and ability to adjust focus.
