Job Summary:

The Duck Creek Developer Trainee is responsible for the coding and design of Concord Group’s Policy Administration System. Under the direction of the Lead Duck Creek Developer the Duck Creek Developer Trainee will work with Business Analyst and QA resources implement changes to the Policy Administration System.

The Trainee will be instructed on the Duck Creek development platform, Author. The trainee will use Author and other Duck Creek Development Tools to build and debug changes in the Concord Policy Administration System. The Duck Creek Trainee will work on both projects and support issue to implement production code.


Essential Functions:

  • Participate in training on the Duck Creek Policy Administration System
  • Use the Duck Creek tools to develop well designed, testable, efficient code using established best practices
  • Develop Technical Specifications for system changes and present specifications and code for peer review
  • Work with Integration and Business Services teams to interface with external application and services
  • Follow Concord Group’s policies and procedures for implementing changes to the Duck Creek application. The developer should also offer ideas to improve these workflows
  • Work with analysts to provide support of the Policy Administration System. This includes inspecting policy data, correcting data, and providing manuscript changes when required
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation related to Concord Group’s implementation of Duck Creek.
  • Assist in application testing

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability and willingness to learn
  • Basic understanding of XML and XPath a plus
  • Ability to produce SQL queries
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to review code with Business users.
  • Ability to present technical topics to the team

Physical Demands

This is both a sedentary and active role and includes but is not limited to the following physical demands:

  • Remain in a stationary position for a constant period of the time
  • Frequently operate a computer and other office productivity tools, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
  • Occasionally move about inside the office to collaborate with co-workers, attend meetings, and access file cabinets, and office machinery
